MAC Cosmetics has been known to produce outstanding beauty products for the last 30 years. With each new revelation, they have continued to impress their consumers and their MAC Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation is no different. Last year, I had the pleasure of attending the launch/master class in October. During the event, I got to learn more about the foundation and how to apply it on different occasions.
By the end of the event, I was so eager to try out this new addition to the MAC family and here is a detailed review of my experience.
Packaging
The MAC Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation comes in a small box. From the package box, you can see your shade number, instructions, description and the ingredients. The foundation itself is in a small, cylindrical glass container that gives it a luxurious look. The MAC Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation has a pump, perfect for releasing the amount you require. You can easily lock and unlock it by moving the cover from right to left. Additionally, it can easily fit in your purse which is a plus in case you need to do a touch-up.
Product Review
The first fact that intrigued me about the MAC Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation is that it comes in 56 shades. As a person who struggles to find the right foundation shade, I was so impressed to find my exact shade. It blended seamlessly into my skin so much that I almost forgot that I was wearing foundation. The foundation has a smooth liquid texture and creates a flawless finish.
The second thing that amazed me was that the foundation is formulated as skin care first. It has an 80% skincare base and 33 skincare ingredients. It is packed with powerful skin-caring superfoods including olive and jojoba oil to condition the skin for a healthier glow. Additionally, it is packed with vitamin E and antioxidants to protect the skin from pollution and blue light. In this day and age where skincare is a huge part of our lives, this fact attracted me to the foundation.
If you are like me and you like your makeup to look skin-like, then you will surely love this MAC Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation. It is easily buildable and a little goes a long way, actually, you only need a little to achieve a beautiful face beat. The only thing that seemed odd at first was that my face looked a little whitish immediately after I finished doing my makeup. But I remembered that the foundation is infused with silver, champagne and gold particles. These particles are specifically crafted to complement the unique undertones of light and rich skin.
The best part is you can notice how they bring out that glow, especially when the sun hits your face. I also applied a bit to my hand, and I could see the particles.
As the day went by, the foundation slowly settled into my skin and my face went from looking whitish to looking natural. Not to mention that it didn’t cause my face to look cakey or patchy by the end of the day. The foundation also leaves your skin feeling nice and moisturized but not weighed down. According to MAC, the length of wear is 12 hours which is true. However, if you have oily or combination skin like me then you will need to do a touch-up at least twice.
A great tip I got from the masterclass is that if you usually end up shining around your T-zone area, the foundation works hand in hand with powder. As the product settled into my face, I also noticed that it was transfer-resistant.
Price
The MAC Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation is available at all authorized MAC stores across Kenya at the retail price of Kshs 9,700. It is also available in online shops like Jumia. Unlike other foundations, it is a bit pricey but for a foundation that combines skincare and beauty, it is worth it. A good foundation can take your makeup game from level 0 to 100.
