My wife was the sweetest woman I had ever met which made falling in love with her so easy. Shortly after we met, I established a business for her since she wanted to quit her job. The business did well but I started hearing rumours about her infidelity. Since I didn’t want to lose such a gem, I married her but the rumours didn’t stop. I had to turn a blind eye to many things. My wife came home from her trip as a completely different person. I didn’t know what went on but she had changed drastically. The sweet girl I met and fell in love with was gone. She was moody and rude. Anything I said seemed to irritate her and she didn’t want to be intimate with me anymore.
Since we had a significant age difference, it was hard to reason with her. She was quite mature for her age but at times, she could be a little hard-headed. Nonetheless, I loved her unconditionally and put up with her tantrums.
However, things got to a boiling point after a few months and her attitude was testing my patience and my marriage. I still stayed with my wife hoping that it was just a phase but I had to find out why she suddenly changed after that trip.
“Just divorce her. There is more fish in the sea.” One of my workmates advised me.
They were waiting eagerly to hear that my marriage had fallen apart but for two years, I proved them wrong. Yes, our marriage wasn’t perfect but that was the reality of love. I simply refused to give up on my wife.
Even though I trusted her, the rumours were beginning to get to me and her odd behaviour only fueled the fire. I had to get to the bottom of things and put the rumours to rest.
I had interacted with the delivery guy on multiple occasions when he delivered food in the office and I didn’t see how my wife could even hire the guy, let alone sleep with him. So, I brushed and decided to focus on the initial rumours that she was sleeping with one of my workmates.
The guy was my manager which made it difficult to confront him but after some preparation, I was ready to find out the truth.
He used to treat me to lunch regularly since I was one of the best employees and we became somehow close. During one of our lunches, I dropped the bomb.
“I’ve heard the rumour that you’re sleeping with my wife.”
It took him by surprise because it had been over a year since the rumour started going around. He must have thought that I forgot about it.
“What? Where did that come from?” He asked.
“Are you?”
“Of course not.” He replied then took a bite of his food. “I asked her out several times and she turned me down. Your wife is very loyal to you. I mean, she turned me down even though I’m richer and more handsome than you.” He finished with a joke which broke the tension.
“I know but I’ve been hearing rumours ever since I got married. It’s starting to get to me.”
“Don’t listen to these guys. They just wish that they had what you have. In fact, I would advise you to give her a baby as soon as possible.”
After that lunch, I was more at ease. If my wife could turn down a successful man like my boss, I didn’t see how she could cheat on me with anyone else.

I decided to surprise her with flowers and a romantic dinner since we hadn’t gone out in a while. It was also a way to apologize to her and show her that I appreciated her. The night went well. In fact, it went so well that we ended up spending the night in a hotel room to rekindle our romance. It was the first time that we had been intimate since she came back from her trip.
For the following, we were intimate on a regular basis. Sometimes, multiple times a day.
“Are you trying to give me a baby?” She asked jokingly.
“What if I am?”
“That’s fine with me.”
“By the way, what happened to the delivery guy? I haven’t seen him at the office in over a month.”
She was quiet and seemed offended by the question.
“He quit.” She answered.
“I didn’t mean to offend you.”
“I’m fine. Don’t worry.”
I was now very sure that I had nothing to worry about. My boss had assured me that nothing happened between him and my wife and that the driver was out of her life. I could now breathe easy knowing that my marriage was safe.

My wife found out that she was pregnant and my dream of having a family was becoming a reality. However, the happy moment was short-lived after someone sent me a text warning that the pregnancy was not mine.
I tried to call the number but no one responded. Doubt started creeping in again but I convinced myself that it was my jealous workmates who were trying to mess with me.
One day at work, my wife’s former employee showed up and made his way to my desk.
“That baby is not yours!” He yelled.
He was visibly intoxicated and sweating profusely from climbing up 10 flights of stairs. The commotion alerted my workmates who turned to look at me. Some came nearer to hear what was going on. However, my boss intervened and pulled both me and the driver out of the office.
“Deal with your issues outside the workplace.” He told me and then went back in.
“Joy is lying to you. She found out she was pregnant two months ago and it’s my baby. She swore that she hadn’t been intimate with you for months.” He explained more calmly.
“I have dealt with a lot of issues in my marriage but I will not stand here and listen to you lie about my wife’s pregnancy.”
“If you think I’m lying then let’s go and confront her. She’s at the restaurant. Let’s go.”
I agreed to go with him since his claims were too serious to ignore. As soon as my wife saw the driver and I walk in, she ran to the storage room and locked herself in.
“Come out and tell your husband the truth.”
After a brief back and forth, she came out with a look of embarrassment.
“Tell me everything and if you lie to me I’ll give you one hot slap.” I threatened her. She had never seen this side of me so she cooperated.
“I have been sleeping with him.” She admitted.
“And the baby?”
“It’s his.”
I almost lost my balance but supported myself with the wall. It took a minute to process what I had heard. My wife was cheating on me and had a baby with another man. My workmates were actually telling me the truth.
She begged me not to divorce her and that we could raise the child together and have others. Blinded by love, I agreed to stay with her despite knowing that the baby wasn’t mine and that my wife had been unfaithful to me for so long. I also couldn’t bear the shame of my colleagues being right about my marriage. I had praised Joy too much and it would be devastating if they found out I was wrong all along.
The driver asked me to pay him for his silence and I sent him half a million shillings.
Ever since that incident, we have lived happily and peacefully together. I raised the baby like my own and after two years, Joy got pregnant again with my son. Our family couldn’t be happier. Though we made mistakes in the past, I think I made the right choice in staying with my wife.
