She had the most beautiful, big, round eyes that Eliud had seen. He had taken the stairs in a building because there was no power. Angel was coming down the stairs when he saw her. She passed, and he immediately saw her eyes. He stopped her and said, “You have very beautiful eyes.” Each went their way.
A while later, they met in the same building. It turned out they had a mutual friend who had a clothes shop in that building. Eliud asked Angel out for lunch, and within no time, they started dating. Eliud had a good-paying job and was good with numbers. Angel, on the other hand, was in between jobs as she struggled to find a job that paid well and that she loved.
She looked for opportunities and sent resumes to many firms, but nothing panned out. While talking with Eliud, she mentioned wanting to get into business. They had that discussion for a couple of weeks, and eventually, Eliud offered to help her set up a flower shop. He financed the venture.
Angel was good at floral arrangements and customer service. Eliud asked his friend to help Angel with marketing her business online. Within no time, the flower shop became popular. Her creative arrangements, knowledge of flowers, which enabled her to pick the right bouquets for her clients, and excellent customer service made clients come back. They also referred her to other people. One of the clients who became a regular was Joel.
Joel first went to the flower shop to get his girlfriend apology flowers. He explained to Angel what he needed, and she created the perfect bouquet. Joel said he thought the only reason he got off easy with his girlfriend was the flowers. Sometimes, he would order and ask them to be delivered to his lady. He trusted Angel’s selection. Then Joel stopped buying flowers. A month went by, and he hadn’t passed by the shop nor placed an order. Angel called him.
“Hi Joel. How are you?”
“I am well, thank you. To what do I owe this pleasure?” Joel asked Angel.
“I was wondering why my favourite customer hasn’t passed by in a while. Is everything okay?” She asked him.
“I’m definitely much better now that you have called.”
“Okay, don’t be a stranger,” said Angel and ended the call.
Joel went to the floral shop a few days later. He asked to take her out for coffee to thank him for checking on him. On the coffee date, he revealed that he had broken up with his girlfriend. It turned out the girl was cheating on him. Angel comforted him, and they gradually got closer.
Joel was exciting and romantic. He knew the right things to say to make a girl blush. Angel couldn’t help falling for him. He showed up at the shop and asked for a bouquet. Angel carefully selected the flowers, and he took them. He went to his car and came back holding the flowers and care package because Angel had mentioned that she had the blues.
Angel could feel she was playing too close to the fire but couldn’t help falling for this man. Eliud supported the business, but Angel thought he didn’t excite her anymore. Soon, Angel started spending more time at the flower shop, or at least that was what she told Eliud. When she was at the flower shop late, Joel would pass by or pick her up for dinner. The other times, she used the flower shop as an excuse, but she would be somewhere with Joel. Eliud got suspicious after a while.
She couldn’t hide her tracks anymore. Eliud noticed the distance between them. He thought he had something wrong, so he put in more effort romantically, but Angel hardly paid attention to him. She was always busy with something else. One day, he decided to see why she was always at the shop. He got there in time to see her kissing Joel in his car before he drove off. Angel turned to find Eliud staring at her.
“So this is what you have been doing?” Eliud asked in pain.
“I didn’t mean for you to find out,” said Angel.
“Wow! Finding out is the problem here? Angel, I helped you start this business and this is what you do to me?”
“You don’t have to throw it in her face,” said a deep voice. Joel had come back to give her something and found them in the middle of the discussion.
Angel immediately moved closer to Joel. Eliud felt as though his heart had been stabbed with a sharp spear, but he wouldn’t lose the girl and dignity on the same day, so he walked away. It was clear that Angel had chosen Joel.
Later, they had a battle for the shop. Angel tried to play dirty by changing the social media pages into her new business, but Eliud and his team stopped her. When that failed, she tried a smear campaign in a bid to retain the customers she had acquired while there, but she only kept a handful. Taking her personal business online tarnished her reputation. Eliud sold the business to his friend as it was a painful reminder of Angel’s betrayal.
