Kevin’s baby mama always found a way to interfere with our relationship. From the moment I started dating him, she got involved. She would come to his place unannounced and claim that her son wanted to see his father. In reality, she just wanted to interrupt our time together. We had many fights about her, but there was nothing much Kevin could do. She was the mother of his child, and he wanted to be a part of the child’s life. I had to tolerate all her shenanigans since I wanted my relationship to work. However, she took things too far when she moved in with Kevin after she lost her job.

I moved in with Kevin three months after we started dating. It was too early to move in, but we were madly in love. Additionally, he asked me to move in so I could save the rent money I used to pay. I liked the idea and moved in the following month. As soon as I moved in, his baby mama complained about it.

“I don’t want a stranger around my child. If she doesn’t move out, you won’t see your child.” She protested through a text message.

Kevin dismissed her protests, and we continued to live together. At first, nothing changed. Kevin’s son would come to visit him every now and then and he sent upkeep money to his baby mama. I even started having a relationship with his son. However, my attempts to have a relationship with Kevin’s baby mama were futile. I knew that she didn’t like me but I didn’t think it was so bad that she wouldn’t even want me to be around her son.

She tried everything she could to make me move out of Kevin’s apartment. Even her friends got involved.

“You’re a homewrecker.” One of them said over the phone.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I answered.

“Wendy and Kevin were trying to reconcile until you came into his life.”

That wasn’t true. Kevin had no intention to get together with his baby mama. He was happy taking care of his son and wanted a cordial relationship with his baby mama. However, her behaviour didn’t make things easy.

When Kevin’s baby mama found out that I had moved in with him, she tried everything she could to make me leave. She even threatened Kevin that he wouldn’t see his son if I continued to live with him but nothing worked. Two months after I moved in, Wendy showed up at Kevin’s apartment with a suitcase and her son in tow. It was the first time that we had met face to face and I didn’t know what to do. I thought that it was one of her many shenanigans, but she seemed serious.

“Can I come in?” She asked, but it was more of a command than a request.

“Does Kevin know you’re here?”

“This is my son’s home. I don’t need to explain anything.”

She pushed her way in and almost ran over my toes with her suitcase. She went to our bedroom to put her suitcase in there then came to the living room.

“Nothing much has changed since I moved out.” She said and smiled.

“I called Kevin. He’s on his way.” I said, ignoring her comments.

“Good. Go and get me a glass of juice, sweetie.” She said to her son.

Her son looked confused by the situation so I followed him to the kitchen and helped him get a glass. I wanted to be as nice as possible so Wendy wouldn’t cause any problems. We sat quietly as we waited for Kevin to come. A few minutes later, he walked into the apartment.

“What are you doing here?” He barked.

“I lost my job and I got kicked out of my apartment.” She said nonchalantly.

“You have parents. Go to your parents’ home.”

“Wow, you don’t even care that I lost my job. Anyway, my mother said that I should go to the father of my child.”

“I don’t want your foolishness today. Get out of my house.”

“I don’t have anywhere else to go.”

After going back and forth, Kevin and I realized that Wendy was serious. She really didn’t have anywhere to go. He wanted to let her stay at the apartment but I didn’t like the idea.

“Where do you want my son to live?” He asked me after we went to the bedroom to discuss the matter.

“She can move in with one of her friends.”

“My son will not live with any of those evil women.”

“Do you see how disrespectful she is? She has already put her suitcase in our bedroom.” I said, pointing at her bag.

“I’ll talk to her and set some boundaries.”

“I don’t think this will work out.”

“Please, babe. I’ll try and get her another job.”

I thought that Kevin was being too good to her after all she had done to make our lives miserable. Nonetheless, she ended up living with us and just as I thought, she was a complete nightmare. Apart from her laziness, she was rude and unpleasant to be around. I used to spend most of my time in my bedroom until Kevin came back home. Even her son used to stay with me more than with his mother. I helped her son with his homework, prepared dinner, cleaned the dishes and tidied the house as Wendy watched TV from morning to night.

I had had enough and moved out to my friend’s place, but continued to meet Kevin. He kept promising that Wendy would move out, but the more she stayed at his apartment, the more it took a toll on our relationship. We quickly drifted apart since we didn’t spend as much time together. I was also hearing rumours that Kevin had gotten back together with his baby mama. Whether it was true or not, it made me feel insecure about our relationship and led to our breakup.

Kevin tried to win me over several times but his baby mama still lived with him and made it difficult. She ended up moving out after three months of living with him. He assured me that nothing happened between them but I still had doubts, which made it difficult to reconcile. We never got back together but remained friends.
