Pancakes are among the most popular things to eat for breakfast. Additionally, if you’re a fan of the breakfast-for-dinner trend, pancakes are an ideal dish to fill you up and make you feel cosy. Despite its popularity, many struggles to make pancakes. The goal may be to make picturesque, soft, and scrumptious pancakes but it’s easier said than done. As easy as it looks, making pancakes require method, precision, and timing just like any other dish. Here are some tips to help you make the perfect pancakes.

  1. Use The Right Pan

Making perfect pancakes comes down to using the right pan. You need a pan that will cook your pancake well without burning or sticking. The best pan to use is a flat, non-stick pan. This will give you more room to flip the pancake without burning yourself or spoiling the shape of the pancake. A non-stick pan will also ensure that your pancake doesn’t stick to the bottom. Make sure you have a flat nonstick pan before you even try to make pancakes.

  1. Follow A Recipe

You can freehand a pancake recipe. You need to mix the right ratios for the ingredients for your pancakes to turn out well. You can master one recipe so you don’t have to keep referring to a recipe online. However, if you want to try a new recipe, there are a variety of great ones online. Again, you can’t improvise recipes, so make sure you have the right ingredients and measurements. Here’s A Lemon Pancake Recipe You Should Try

  1. Whisk Your Dry Ingredients

Lumpy pancakes are a big no yet they are more common than many would like. However, there’s an easy way to make sure that you don’t have lumps. The secret is to whisk your dry ingredients a few times. Whisking your ingredients does wonders as it separates any clumps that may have formed from being packaged. Additionally, you save yourself the hassle of sifting the ingredients since the results are the same.

  1. Avoid Overmixing

When we notice that our batter has lumps, most of us tend to mix aggressively until the lumps are gone. Calm down, you’re not fighting with your food. Additionally, doing this only makes things worse. It’s better to have a few lumps than stiff batter which happens when you overmix. You should be able to gently mix your dry ingredients and wet ingredients with a few stirs. If the lumps are too big, it means you’ve already made the mistake and you have to start over or cook it as it is. If they’re small, they’re most likely going to dissolve when you rest the batter.

  1. Wipe The Pan Between Batches

After cooking a few pancakes, your oil will eventually burn in the pan. If you use your pan in this condition, the pancakes will have a bitter taste and charred bits. Therefore, you need to wipe your pan after cooking a few batches and add a dab of more butter or oil. This will ensure that all your pancakes are delicious and cooked properly.

  1. Pay Attention

Cooking pancakes is a delicate process that requires your full attention. However, it pays off in the end. Commit yourself to 20 minutes and you will have perfect pancakes. During this time, observe your pancake. If they’re browning too quickly, reduce the heat. If they’re sticking to the pan, add more oil. Even if they are cooking well, stay put until they’re done.
