Mirium had experienced her fair share of bad luck with men and so she vowed never to date until she found a nice guy. Luckily, she met Kennedy who had all the qualities she was looking for. He was polite, generous and very considerate.

Their relationship was almost flawless, and her friends started to wonder what she had done to get such a man. However, as usual, when the deal is too good you should always think twice. Kennedy had mastered the art of covering his tracks so well. He was a womanizer and a serious one at that. The reason why he had never been caught was because he was used to juggling women from different universities.

His friends admired his lifestyle but again would end up feeling bad for the women, especially Mirium. So, occasionally they would advise him to let her go but he would refuse. Ken’s reason behind being a womanizer was that he was scared of commitment. However, he couldn’t imagine his life without Mirium.

One random afternoon, as he was chilling with Mirium at his hostel, they heard a knock on the door. Ken offered to open the door since Mirium was heading to the bathroom to shower so she could get ready for her class. To his surprise, it was Melanie, one of his girlfriends. Ken stepped outside and closed the door.

“Babe, what are you doing here?” He asked as he noticed the big bag she was carrying.

“I need a place to stay since I argued with my parents and I can’t go home,” She replied.

Ken pulled out his phone to see if he could send her money for a two-day stay at an Airbnb nearby. Unfortunately, his bank was experiencing issues and he didn’t have enough money in his Mpesa. To avoid Mirium seeing Melanie, he decided to quickly hide her bag under his bed and take her for lunch.

On their way there, he texted Mirium and informed her that he would see her in the evening at her place. What made this whole situation worse was that Ken was set to go home the following day. Later that evening, he decided that lying was the only way he could get out of this mess. Therefore, after their long lunch, he ordered an Uber which first dropped him at his place to pick up her bag then proceeded to Mirium’s place.

When she opened the door, Ken introduced Melanie but didn’t explain who she was to him. Mirium found this odd, but she didn’t suspect him. A short while later, he asked to speak to Mirium outside. By this time, Melanie was asleep on the sofa.

“So, Melanie is a distant relative, and this is her first time in Nairobi,” He said.

“Okay, so where will she be staying?” Mirium asked.

“I was hoping she could stay with you for the weekend then when I get back, she will go stay with my aunty,” He responded nervously.

“Sure, I guess,” Mirium said.

“Thanks, babe,” He said with a smile.

Mirium went back into the house and Ken happily walked to the exit where his Uber was waiting. The following day, he woke up and texted both ladies assuring them that he would see them on Monday. When Melanie woke up, she was surprised to find Mirium setting the table for breakfast.

“Good morning,” Melanie said.

“Good morning, I’m sure you are starving. Join me for breakfast,” Mirium responded.

“Thank you, you are a nice friend,” Melanie said.

“Friend?” Mirium replied.

“Yeah, Kennedy told me you are one of his closest friends. At first, I felt weird but then he said you’re like his bro,” Melanie said.

Mirium sat down and poured herself some tea as she tried to digest what she had just heard.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you,” Melanie said in a remorseful tone.

“Not at all, I just didn’t expect that he would be ashamed to talk about me to his family,” Mirium replied.

“Family?” Melanie asked.

“Yeah, I assumed he would have at least told you of our relationship,” Mirium said.

“Hold up, relationship? You’re dating my Ken?” Melanie asked.

The room was silent for a short as the two women realized that they had been played. Now in a normal setting, they would have ended up fighting. Instead, they were both mature enough to realize that Ken was the issue. So, they came up with a better way to deal with him.

The weekend went by fast and by Monday afternoon Ken was back. Mirium called him and asked if they could meet at her place. Given how much he had missed her he got home, prepared himself and went over to her place. Mirium opened the door dressed in a short robe that revealed her legs.

Immediately he set his eyes on her, she dropped the robe and remained in lingerie. Ken, who was speechless, forgot that he had left Melanie at her place. He stepped in, closed the door and quickly started undressing. When he was fully naked, Melanie walked into the living room.

“Ohh so this is what you have been doing?” She asked.

Ken struggled to pick up his clothes as he tried to come up with a lie. As soon as he got close to the door, Melanie held on to him as Mirium opened the door. Melanie then proceeded to push him outside.

“Guys let’s be reasonable,” He said as he tried to find a way to get back into the house.

Melanie blocked his way as Mirium grabbed the clothes from his hands. Before he could utter another word, they slammed the door in his face. Ken stood butt naked wondering how he was going to get home. What even made the situation more embarrassing was the looks he was getting from different people who lived in the building. This experience traumatized him to the point that he swore off women for the rest of his university life.
