I had the biggest crush on this beautiful girl I used to see every day in my office building. I couldn’t contain my excitement every time I saw her and I would walk to my office with a bounce in my step. Finally, I mastered the courage to talk to her and it was better than I expected.
She was sweet and shy which only made me fall for her even more. However, she always turned down my date requests.
“I thought all girls love dates,” I asked one of my colleagues.
“We do but a beautiful girl like her goes on dates every day. It’s nothing new to her.” My colleague replied.
I knew that Sarah had a lot of men who would do anything for her but I persistently pursued her hoping that it would pay off one day. Good things take time so I was patient.
We kept in touch every day and I looked forward to seeing her at work. Then, all of a sudden, she stopped coming to work. After a few days, I decided to ask her workmates where she was.
“She got another job. They transferred her to another branch.” Her colleague said.
I worried that I would never see her again, especially since she didn’t tell me that she was leaving.
“Why didn’t you tell me you got another job?”
“It happened so fast. I was so busy that I forgot.”
“Will I ever see you again?”
“Of course. I’ll come next week to finalize my move.”
I made sure to clear my calendar on the day she was supposed to come. I also made a dinner reservation at a high-end restaurant. The only issue was that Sarah hadn’t accepted my request yet. However, I wasn’t going to take no for an answer this time around. I planned to go on a date with her even if I had to drag her to the restaurant.
As promised, she came to the office to clear up and finalize her move. It felt like I was seeing her for the first time. She looked more beautiful than ever before. I could see her from the glass walls of our offices as she ran up and down from one room to another. Her long, confident strides put me in a trance. I was mesmerized by her presence.
Finally, she walked into our office and went to the receptionist who was her good friend. They chatted and laughed for a few minutes before my office phone rang.
“Sarah wants to talk to you.” The receptionist said and I sprinted to my feet before she even hung up.
“Hi beautiful,” I said to Sarah with the biggest smile on my face.
I didn’t realize how much I missed her until I heard her sweet voice. After chatting for a few minutes, she tried to leave. However, I made sure she agreed to go on a date with me.
“I have dinner reservations tonight,” I said as I walked her out of the office.
She smiled knowing what I was hinting at.
“Okay. I will go for dinner with you.” She said and I almost started dancing in excitement. I managed to keep my composure and bid her goodbye.
At around 8 p.m., I saw the most beautiful girl strolling in the restaurant. Many turned their heads to look at her as she walked by and I smiled to myself knowing that beautiful girl was coming to meet me. She wore a red bodycon dress that showed off her amazing figure. I’ll never forget how she looked that night.
She sat across from me which allowed me to admire her beauty all night long. We had a brief conversation before the waiter came with the menu. Sarah perused through it and then asked for a seafood platter and a glass of wine. I ordered mashed potatoes and pork.
My order came first then a huge plate full of all kinds of seafood was placed in front of Sarah. Her eyes lit up as she scanned the meal then without hesitation, she grabbed a crab leg, broke the shell with her teeth and devoured the whole thing in a matter of seconds.
I kept getting splashed with juices and oil as she battled with her meal. The juices also ran down her hand and stained her dress. I watched in shock as the most beautiful girl ate like a barbarian who hadn’t seen food in weeks.
“The napkin is right in front of you.” I finally alerted her as her face was covered in food.
“Oh, thank you.” She answered with a mouth full of food.
Even the waiters stole a glance as they walked by us and it wasn’t because she looked beautiful.
I was so embarrassed that I barely said a word to her after our food was served. Surprisingly, she finished the whole platter and didn’t even offer me a piece. When she was down, she finally reached for the napkin and wiped her face and hands. She tried to clean up but nothing could undo the image I had of her as she ate.
“Thanks for dinner.” She said after noticing that I was staring at her.
The waiter brought the bill and sarcastically asked, “Did you enjoy your meal?”
I simply nodded and handed her my debit card as Sarah was picking her teeth with a toothpick. After paying for the date, I excused myself to go to the bathroom and then left the restaurant. I then texted Sarah to let her know that I had gone and that she should take an Uber back to her place.
We didn’t speak from that day and I never told anyone about the date. It was so embarrassing that I told my colleagues that she didn’t show up. To this day, I’m still in disbelief that such a beautiful girl with her life together can have such bad table manners.
