Dealing with a cold or flu is very overwhelming. You feel tired, uncomfortable, and unproductive, especially during the first few days. The hard part is usually trying your best not to infect others as you try out different remedies to help you feel better. If you grew up in an African home, these remedies often included chicken soup or a cup of tea or the potent ginger, lemon, and honey combo.

The tea that was mainly served as regular milk tea helped since fluids are often the best. However, it didn’t quite soothe most of the symptoms. Let’s take a look at some of the teas you can add to your natural remedy list that help you feel better and boost your immunity.

1. Green Tea

Green tea has numerous health benefits that support the body when dealing with infections. It contains powerful antiviral and antioxidant qualities which deal with bacteria. It also relieves congestion and cough.  11 Health Benefits Of Green Tea

6. Elderberry Tea

Elderberries are filled with more antioxidants than most dark berries. Studies show that elderberry extracts help to reduce the severity of cold and flu symptoms. They also reduce the duration of the symptoms. Elderberry tea can also help treat cold sores often triggered by the common cold.
