I was awakened by loud screams and the sound of breaking glass. I thought I was dreaming but when I peeped outside my bedroom windows I saw two women destroying my car while shouting profanities. A small crowd had gathered around them which made it difficult for me to identify the woman but when I went downstairs to the parking lot, I instantly recognized both of them. It was my ex and one of her friends.
My ex and I had a tumultuous relationship from day one. When she introduced me to her friends, they didn’t seem to like me at all. Maybe it was because I didn’t come in swinging my Mercedes Ben car keys or order 5 bottles of Moët. In fact, I was the farthest from that type of guy. I drove a humble Toyota Fielder and I honestly couldn’t afford even one bottle of Moët. They probably thought I wasn’t good enough for their drop-dead gorgeous, yellow friend. Nonetheless, we ended up dating.
I also had a few issues with her. She had an annoying habit of asking me for money every day. Additionally, she went out way too much for my liking. These issues would cause fights between us but in the end, I’d have to compromise to keep the peace. However, she never changed.
“I’m going to meet my friends.” She said after another explosive fight.
These words seem to trigger me but I bit my tongue and let her do her thing. We were doing well since I decided to let her do whatever she wanted. She stopped asking me for money every day and calling me a broke man. I tried my best to avoid any confrontation with her even though I was still bothered by her behaviour.
Our relationship didn’t last long and after a few months we broke up. I moved on pretty quickly since I barely had any feelings for my ex. She had turned out to be the worst type of girlfriend I ever had. My new relationship, on the other hand, was everything I had dreamt of. She was wife material. She cooked for me, washed my clothes, and kept the house clean. It didn’t take long for her to move in and live with me full-time.
I didn’t experience any issues and I thought everything was good in my relationship. However, my ex popped out of nowhere and disturbed the peace in my life. I happened to work near her school and I think she spotted my car parked outside my office building. When I was leaving the office, I found her and her friends standing next to my car.
“What are you doing here?” I asked her.
“I came to see you. I miss you.” She answered with a sassy attitude.
“I’m very tired. I need to go home.”
“Okay. Let’s go together.”
“I can’t take you home with me. We already broke up.”
“Oh please. Don’t act like you don’t miss me.”
“If you want a lift to your place, I can take you but we can’t go to my place.”
To be honest, she looked very sexy and if my girlfriend wasn’t at my place, who knows what would have happened. However, I was thankful that I had a girlfriend who I could rely on and I didn’t want to spoil my relationship with her.
My ex got in the car and we headed to her apartment. The ride was rather quiet as she didn’t expect that I would reject her. She got out of the car and I started my journey to my apartment. I was there within an hour thanks to the city traffic. My girlfriend welcomed me with a warm hug then after I had settled in, she served me the delicious meal that she had prepared.
“How was your day, babe?” She asked.
“It was great. Nothing much happened.” I wanted to tell her about my encounter with my ex but I didn’t want her to stress about such issues. So, I kept it to myself.
I looked forward to the following day since it was a Saturday and we had planned a day out. However, our plans changed after we were woken up by the sounds of screams and pounding. We soon found out that my ex was smashing my car. My girlfriend didn’t even know about her and at first, she thought that I had a side chick.
“She’s my ex,” I explained to her.
“Your ex? Have you told her you were with me yesterday?” My ex asked after overhearing me explain to my girlfriend who she was. By now, she had stopped breaking my car and was shouting at me. The guards’ attempts to calm her down were futile and they asked if they should call the police. I didn’t want to make a statement or spend my whole day dealing with the police. So, I chose not to make a report. She had only smashed one of the car windows and a side mirror which I could replace easily.
Getting rid of my ex was another story. However, my girlfriend knew exactly how to handle her. Since I was soft-spoken, my girlfriend stepped in and exchanged words with my ex. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t proud. She dominated the situation and after a long, exhausting argument, things simmered down.
“I won’t call the cops but if you ever come here again, the police will be the least of your worries,” I said once they both calmed down.
She left without saying a single word and that was the last time I saw her. However, when I thought the whole incident was behind me, I saw a video of the incident online. Someone had recorded it from their window and posted it online. You could hardly recognize anyone in the video but once the video started trending, it was quickly traced back to me. My dirty linen was aired online and it was one of the longest days of my life.
Things went back to normal after a few days and I could hardly believe that I had been through that crazy experience.
