If you’re an African, you’ve probably gone to your parents complaining about a certain feeling, and they advised you to drink water. It may seem hilarious because they seem to think water is a magical potion that cures almost anything. Your finger could be in pain after knocking it against a table, and your parents will tell you that it’s because you don’t drink enough water.

To a certain, they may just be right. Water is actually magical. It’s the driving force of all nature and can help you fight some medical conditions. Here are a few health conditions you can manage by drinking water.

1. Heartburn

Heartburn is one of the most irritating feelings. You almost feel like there’s something dislodged in your gullet. The good news is you can ease the symptoms of heartburn with water. When heartburn symptoms set in, water will bring relief. This can be the result of water-neutralizing acids and washing them out of the oesophagus. Water has a pH that, at 7, is neutral. This dilutes the more acidic stomach fluids, bringing relief.

2. Migraines

If you have experienced migraines, you know that it’s not pretty. Migraines can keep you in bed and lower if not completely stopping you from being productive.

Dehydration is a main trigger for migraines, which is the reason why you need to stay well-hydrated. People suffering from migraines need to take special care to stay hydrated and ensure a regular intake of water. 7 Tricks For Keeping Yourself Hydrated Every Day

3. Constipation

Constipation is something that almost all of us have gone through. It makes it excruciatingly painful to pass stool. Extra fluids and more specifically water help to keep the stool soft and easy to pass. Since constipation is related to dehydration in the colon, you need to make sure you are drinking lots of water. When your body is properly hydrated, less water will be withdrawn from the colon. This will keep your stool soft and easy to pass.

4. Fever

Fever is a symptom that is characterized by chills, body aches, fatigue, and sweating. It can be extremely uncomfortable. For symptoms of flu, drinking water can help lower fever by urinating the “heat” out of your body. If you’re sick, take in more water to recover faster.

5. High Blood Pressure

High Blood Pressure is a lifestyle disease mainly caused by a diet high in salt, fat, and/or cholesterol. It can also be due to family history.

Water plays an important role in regulating your blood pressure. Water helps in thinning blood, thereby making it easy for your heart to pump blood. Dehydration makes blood acidic, which increases the LDL levels of cholesterol. Drinking water cleans the excess cholesterol build-up in your body and keeps blood way clean.

6. Yeast Infection

A yeast infection is a fungal infection that causes irritation, discharge, and intense itchiness of the vagina and the vulva. It can be painful and unbearable.

To deal with it, drink water. Yeast feeds on the sugar present in your body and leads to infections. When you drink sufficient water, sugar is flushed out from your body and greatly reduces the chances of your body being a host of yeast infections.

7. Kidney Stones

If you’ve never had kidney stones then you are saying the right prayers. It can manifest in different ways, including a sharp pain in the lower back and blood in the urine. Water prevents kidney stones. The most common cause of kidney stones is not drinking enough water. Since water dissolves the substances that form stones in the urine, drinking 12 glasses a day helps treat kidney stones. Health: Kidney Stones – Symptoms, Causes And Treatment

8. Arthritis

Arthritis is the swelling and tenderness of one or more of your joints. The main symptoms of arthritis are joint pain and stiffness. Your hydration status can affect your joint health in a number of different ways. Staying adequately hydrated and reducing inflammation could help with preventing and managing arthritis and gout flares. Health And Fitness: Arthritis And Ways Of Managing It
