People think that a stalker is an unattractive, deranged person who doesn’t have a social life. After meeting my ex, I realized that a stalker can be the person you least expected. Anita was the epitome of beauty, style and class. She carried herself with an elegant aura that was irresistible. I was drawn to her the moment I saw her but thought she was way out of my league even though I was a successful lawyer. Nonetheless, I decided to shoot my shot and it went well.

We met through a friend who couldn’t stop talking about how he had an attractive, single friend. Since I was single, I challenged him to set me up with her.

“She’s not an ordinary girl. You better not embarrass me because I don’t want to lose her as a friend.” He cautioned me.

“You know me, Mike. How can I embarrass you?”

“I know. That’s why I want the two of you to date.”

“Set it up and I’ll do the rest.”

My confidence was instantly shattered when I saw her walking towards me. Mike had to nag me a bit so I could snap out of it. The first things I noticed about her were her warm smile and her beautiful scent.

“This is my friend, Henry,” Mike said.

“Hi, Henry. I’m Anita.”

“Nice to meet you, Anita.”

Once my nerves settled, I couldn’t stop talking to her. I told her about the most random things in my life like how I had a job as a job usher when I was in university because I was so broke. She laughed at my stories which only motivated me to keep going. Before I realized it, we were the only people at the restaurant and we had to leave since they were closing up.

I drove her home and took her number so we could keep in touch. However, things were moving slowly and I was scared that I didn’t make a good first impression. So, I took her on another date to show her how serious I was about being with her.

She was still reluctant and it took a few more dates to convince her. During our courtship period, I got a mysterious email warning me about Anita.

“I heard that you’re dating Anita. Don’t let her good looks deceive you. She’s a stalker and she’ll make your life miserable.” The email read.

I tried to find out who had sent the email but I was unsuccessful. After a few days, I completely forgot about it.

I was too busy focusing on my new girlfriend. Anita and I became inseparable. Some of our friends thought it was cute but others thought it would fizzle out after the honeymoon phase. Either way, I was enjoying my time with her and I didn’t care what anyone said.

Anita was the most amazing woman I had ever dated. She was thoughtful and would send me sweet messages throughout the day. I looked forward to them all day.

However, things started to get out of control. She started showing up to my office, following me to court and going back home with me even when I asked her not to do it.

“Why don’t you want me around? So you have another girlfriend? I know how you lawyers are.” She protested.

“You’re my one and only. You know that. It’s just inappropriate and a bit annoying to follow me around every day.”

“I want to know what you’re doing.” She answered as if she was in the right.

To avoid getting into an argument, I let it go and let her do whatever she wanted hoping that she would get bored after a few days. She didn’t. In fact, she started talking about moving into my apartment.

“I practically live here. It doesn’t make sense to pay rent for my apartment and I’m never there.” She explained.

“I like having my own space. Besides, I’ve only known you for two months.”

“Do you know how many men will kill to be with me?” She yelled.

Her comments about how desirable and good-looking she was were getting on my nerves but I bit my tongue.

“I’ll think about it,” I said.

“Don’t take too long.”

I was getting overwhelmed by her constant nagging so I decided to change my number and stay in a hotel for a few weeks to clear my mind.

Two days after I checked in, I found Anita waiting for me at the reception. I don’t know how she found out where I was staying but that was the moment I realized that she was, indeed, a stalker.

“Why did you change your number?” She asked.

“I needed some time to myself.”

“For what? Are you cheating on me?”

“I’m not cheating on you but I think that we should take a break from this relationship.”

As expected, she wasn’t going to go down without a fight. The classy, sweet girl disappeared in the blink of an eye and I saw a completely different side of her. She removed her shoes and wig then ran towards me trying to land a punch. Luckily, the security was close by and held her back.

They threw her out of the hotel but I couldn’t leave since I didn’t want to run into her. I stayed and worked in the hotel for a week until I felt comfortable to go back home. I thought that enough time had passed and that Anita had moved on from me.

However, I made the mistake of forgetting that she was a stalker. Just when I got home, I heard a knock on the door and went to open it only to find Anita standing with nothing but lingerie and a trench coat on.

She looked beautiful and for a moment I almost gave in to my desires. However, I snapped out of it and quickly locked my house then called the police. They found her still standing outside my apartment and arrested her.

I confronted Mike about setting me up with a stalker but he insisted that he didn’t know about her past relationships.

“I always wondered why she was single,” Mike said.

After the arrest, Anita stayed away from me since she didn’t want to get arrested again. However, she still monitored my movements through my friends’ social media posts. I used to get complaints from my friends that she was harassing them and DMing them asking where I was. Eventually, I got rid of her for good and got back to normal life.
