The Singlehood Series: I Had To Kick Him Out Of My Place After He Accused Me Of Stealing His Money

An innocent quest to make new friends turned out to be one of the worst experiences I've had in the hands of men.

My experience with men kept going so bad that I questioned whether I should just stay single forever. However, I never thought that it was about to get worse. I thought I had seen the worst in men until a man accused me of stealing his money in my own house. Let’s start from the beginning.

I was newly single and had just moved to a new place to start afresh. However, I hadn’t made any new friends after living there for almost two months. So, after spending most of my weekends alone, I decided to go to the mall to get some stuff and hopefully make a friend or two.

The mall was full to the brim with young and old, couples and singles going about their day. I felt optimistic about meeting someone that day. However, that optimism quickly turned to doubt. I had been at the mall for almost three hours and no one had talked to me. I got a few looks but no one had approached me. Additionally, I was almost done with my errands so I felt a bit disappointed. As I was picking up the last item, someone walked up to me and started talking to me.

“Are you looking for me?” He asked.

I laughed and replied, “No, I’m looking for milk.”

Even though I was happy that someone had talked to me, the guy wasn’t exactly my type. He was an old white man and I didn’t think that we would even get along. However, he kept following me and I decided to hear what he had to say. After talking for a few minutes, I was happily surprised. He was charming and funny. We exchanged numbers and parted ways but we bumped into each other again at the counter.

“Are you here to pay for my stuff?” I joked.

He laughed. “I’m looking for an open counter.”

“Okay, bye.”

Finally, I was done and on my way back home. It was a tiresome day and all I wanted was to eat, take a shower and sleep. An hour after I got home, I got a WhatsApp text from Daniel, the white guy I had met at the mall.

“It was nice meeting you, darling.” The text read.

I replied, “Nice meeting you too.”

He called me shortly after and revealed his true intentions.

“I think you’re really beautiful. I want to make you happy.”

“I’m happy,” I replied, trying to act like I didn’t know what he was talking about.

“Where do you live?”

“Along Mombasa road.”

“Can I come to your place?” He asked

“I’m not sure. It’s a bit late.”

“That’s not a problem. I won’t stay for long.”

I had started seeing red flags but being the good girl I was, I agreed thinking that nothing could go wrong since he was a white man. At least, he had been respectful when we met so I thought it would be the same when he came to my place.

I sent him my location and he called me as soon as he got to my apartment building.

“I’m here.” He said.

I went to get him at the gate and welcomed him to my place. So far, everything was going well. He even brought me a present. I ordered some food for him since I hadn’t cooked and joined him on the couch. He immediately placed his hand on my thighs and started rubbing them. I moved away but he kept coming closer and touching me.

“I really like you.” He said with a lustful look in his eyes.

“The food delivery is taking a lot of time,” I said checking the time on my phone.

“Don’t worry about that. I’m not interested in food, just you.”

“You’re so funny,” I said followed by a fake laugh.

“What do you think? Should we move to the bedroom?” He asked.

Before I could answer, my phone rang. It was the food delivery so I dashed out to get the food. As I walked up the stairs, I thought about inviting one of the other tenants to my place so Daniel wouldn’t try anything with me. However, I didn’t know anyone in the building that well so I couldn’t let them know what was going on in my house. Besides, I didn’t want to be known as the girl who dates old white men.

I got back to my house and found Daniel sitting naked on my couch. I didn’t know whether to be shocked or repulsed. He looked like a melting ice cream. I didn’t say anything but the look on my face said it all.

“Do you like what you see?” He asked.

“I think you should leave,” I said standing near the door.

“Come on, baby girl. I’ll give you some money if that’s what you want.” He said removing a stack of a thousand shilling notes from his pocket.

He then walked up to me and pulled me towards him. I was so shocked that I couldn’t move. It was only when he tried to kiss me that I pushed him away and demanded that he should leave.

“Fine, I’m leaving.”

After he got dressed, he put his hand in his pocket checking for something.

“Where’s my money?” He asked in a loud, aggressive tone.

“What?”

“The money I showed you a few minutes ago.”

“I didn’t know. Check your jacket pocket.”

“You’ve stolen my money.” He started shouting.

I tried to calm him down but he didn’t stop. He went out of the house shouting that I had stolen his money which attracted the attention of my neighbours.

“He’s just drunk.” I tried to explain.

I could hear some of them giggling as I tried to control the situation. Luckily, one of the guards heard the commotion and came to help. He calmed Daniel down as I gathered his things and took them to him.

By the time I came back, he found the money in his jacket and was apologetic for his behaviour. The guard escorted him out and I went back to my place. I found some people waiting outside my apartment to gossip. I explained it was a big misunderstanding and laughed it off.

However, there was nothing funny about it. After being a gracious host, this was the thanks I got.
