In an effort to live a good life, David decided to get a sugar mummy who would buy him all he desired. He thought that it would be a walk in the park since no one told him the other side of having a sugar mummy. However, he would soon find out that the lifestyle was not for him after his sugar mummy picked a fight in the club because of him.

While he was struggling to make ends meet, David’s friends were balling every weekend and driving nice cars. They didn’t hide the fact that their high life was funded by older women commonly known as sugar mummies or mumama. They even invited him out and tried to introduce him to a few sugar mummies but it never worked out. He was too proud to stoop to that level. Besides, David liked girls too much to date older women. He would have to give up having a relationship with any girl if he was going to date a mumama which was one of the reasons he refused.

“How do you guys stay without girlfriends?” He asked one of his friends who had been dating sugar mummies for years.

“You can have a girlfriend, just make sure you don’t get caught.” His friend explained.

“Does your girlfriend know that you have a mumama?”

“No, she would kill me. She thinks I have rich relatives.” His friend said then burst out laughing.

“If she only knew,” David said.

“I don’t care if she knows. The only issue is if my mumama knows.” He explained. “Why are you asking? Are you finally going to try it out? It’s not that bad plus you get a lot of money.”

“I think I want to try this thing out. I’ll die broke without experiencing the good things in life.”

“That’s more like it. There’s this mumama who I think you’ll like. Let’s go out tomorrow and you’ll meet her.”

The next day, David got dressed and headed to Jeff’s place so they could go to the club together. He took David to a local bar where most people, including the waitresses, were older women.

“I don’t feel comfortable here. If someone saw me here what would they say?” He said to Jeff as we walked in.

“We’re just here to meet the women then we’ll leave.”

They sat in a dark corner and ordered two bottles of beer and a plate of roast meat as they waited for the women to come. After a few minutes, David calmed down and started enjoying himself. The DJ played songs that got him on his feet until the women arrived.

“Hi, baby.” One woman said with a heavy accent then grabbed Jeff and kissed him on the lips.

David looked away only to make eye contact with the other woman who stretched her hand out to him. He thought she was about to grab him so he sat down then reached out for a handshake.

“I’m Melissa.” She introduced herself and David simply shook his head.

“This is David.”

“Ooh, this is David?” The other woman asked excitedly.

“Nice to meet you, David,” Melissa said then squeezed her way to the corner seat.

“Bring us the same order.” She shouted to the waitress who had been standing behind the women the whole time.

“Are we not leaving?” David whispered to Jeff.

“In a few minutes. Just relax and have fun.”

As soon as David went back to his seat, Melissa placed her huge hand around his shoulder and pulled him closer. He looked like a toothpick compared to her size which made him feel more awkward. However, he tried to kill his nerves with alcohol and after two bottles of beer, he was having the time of his life. He didn’t even notice how much time had passed or how much the place had become packed.

The initial crowd had almost left and the younger crowd started pouring in. However, David was so distracted by his mumama and her endless stories that he didn’t see the young group of people across from him. It was only when they started snickering and turning to look at him that he finally saw them.

“Don’t pay attention to them. They’re just jealous.” Melissa said.

David tried to ignore them but he was having a hard time.

“How do you deal with this?” He asked Jeff.

“You’ll get used to it. Just don’t show them that you care.”

He tried to pretend like he was having a good time but it didn’t work. They kept looking at him and laughing then he spotted a familiar face in the crowd. It was one of his friends from school.

“What are you doing here?” He asked her.

“I could ask you the same question.” She answered and looked at Melissa.

“Jeff brought me here. You know I can never do such things.”

“Okay. If you say so.”

They talked for a short while and then started dancing together. As they were dancing, David felt a familiar hand on his shoulder that yanked him backwards. The girl saw the commotion and ran away before Melissa attacked her.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Melissa barked which only drew more attention to them.

“I was just catching up with my friend.”

“Catching up? Your hands were on her waist.” She protested.

“It’s not what it looks like.”

“I’m not a small girl. I know what I saw.”

“I can’t do this. I’m going home.” David said to Jeff who simply shrugged his shoulders.

He managed to leave but Melissa followed him on his way out hurling insults at him as everyone looked at the pair. The following day, Jeff showed up at David’s place and tried to convince him to go on another night out with another mumama. However, David was not ready for another embarrassment.

He realized that his dignity was not worth losing for some money. He also didn’t want to spoil his reputation among his friends.
