It is very easy to fall in love with the OPPO Reno6 5G based on the camera alone. The OPPO Reno6 phone, launched in September in Kenya boasts of numerous features. The screen fills the front display, which is perfect for multimedia features like video recording and watching movies. The phone’s cameras are on the back left of the phone, sitting in a vertical position. The volume buttons are on the side in a typical functional fashion.
The OPPO Reno6 5G is a dual sim phone (although the one we got only takes one sim card) that requires nano sim cards. These sim cards sit on the top left of the phone. The one unexpected thing was that the OPPO Reno 6 does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack and it does not have a MicroSD card slot. But you do get USB Type-C earphones.

We have used the OPPO Reno6 5G for a while now and we have a lot to write home about – good things, of course. At first glance, the phone is beautiful, and you are tempted to judge the book by its cover. When you get to use it, you realise that indeed its performance and functionality are everything but disappointing. Here are some of the best features of the OPPO Reno6 5G phone.
1. Display
A phone’s display is very important, well at least for us. You always want a phone that looks classy and fancy. The OPPO Reno6 5G gives you just that. The smartphone is available in four colours; black, blue, aurora, and purple. This, I believe, caters to different tastes and preferences. Whether you want the laid back vibe or something a little brighter, you can find a suitable colour for the OPPO Reno6 5G phone. The phone’s screen size is 6.43 inches with a screen resolution of 1800 X 2400 pixels. This is perfect, especially if you like to watch movies and videos on your screen as we do.
2. Camera
If you are like most people, then a good camera is definitely one of the most important features to look out for when buying a new phone. When it comes to the OPPO Reno6 5G, we enjoyed using the camera thoroughly. There are so many features you can play around with to achieve the perfect images.
With the OPPO Reno6 5G, you get amazing camera and video features. The main back camera is a triple camera. It has 64 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP. The camera has LED flash, HDR, and panorama. In terms of video, the back camera has 4K@30fps (frames per second) and 1080p@30/60 fps. These cameras sit pretty at the back of the phone without interfering with the overall look and feel.
The front camera, on the other hand, has 32MP. It also boasts of having panorama features. The video for the front camera has 1080@30 fps.
Some photos from the camera.
The cameras also boast of having the bokeh effect, giving more prominence to the subject of the image. AI highlight video helps you shoot smooth videos even for lowlight scenes. The Soloop video editor has templates for social media posting including TikTok and Instagram stories. We found it useful for adding music, chopping up videos or joining videos together, as well as changing the filter before sharing to social media apps. Here is a Soloop video.

Here is a video of an event.
I borrowed @potentash's @OPPOKenya's Reno 6 to create some content with it, and shot the #GoodFrance culinary exchange between @5SensesKe and The French Embassy exclusively on it.
I loved using it, but I had to give it back. Which was sad.

In terms of the camera performance under different forms of lighting, the OPPO Reno6 5G does pretty well. It takes some really nice shots in good lighting and also poor lighting, and the ultrawide does really well, even in high contrast scenes. You can also take photos in their full resolution.

Because we attend events, both food and entertainment, the photos and videos in different lighting conditions are important. We want to get good pictures for the blog as well as great selfies and videos for social media.

I have aspirational fashion goals & sometimes I meet people who embody that. My fashion sense has changed over the years & now I am more into African jewelry, dressing & accessories.

Regular photos come out with good dynamic range, detail and vibrant colours and saturation. It’s also important to note that the phone shines after dark too with its night mode features. We were able to take decent photos and videos at night. In short, the OPPO Reno6 5G is worth it.

3. Performance
Above its display and aesthetic, a phone’s performance and technical functionality come first. Luckily, with the OPPO Reno6 5G phone, all that glitters is actually gold. For the entire time that I have used this phone, I have found that it has a good processor. The phone did not lag at any one point. It has a Mediatek Dimensity 900 5G Chip.
The apps loading is quite smooth and there is no lagging. If you are a gamer (I am not) then it also gives you a good experience according to some friends.
4. Battery
A phone with a high battery capacity is always a good idea. It is less cumbersome since you’re not always looking for the next charging place. You can go about your daily activities, rest assured that your phone will remain on and you will be reachable. With the OPPO Reno6 5G, you get just that. Having used it for a while, the battery has taken us through an entire day without having to recharge it if we weren’t taking pictures or videos or watching movies. We are always snapping away which is why the fast charge comes in handy.
The battery type is Li-Po, with 4300 mAh. Li-Po batteries are generally safer and more environmentally friendly than most batteries. Lastly, it contains fast charging capabilities of 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 that can charge your phone fully in around 30 minutes. So if you ever need to hurriedly charge your phone, the OPPO Reno6 5G has you covered! It can charge 25% in 5 minutes. It also has Super Power Saving Mode & Super Nighttime Standby that ensures that the OPPO Reno6 consumes less power at night by reducing the background app activities. My tip to get a faster charge if my phone is low is always to put it on Super Power Savings Mode so in about half an hour the phone is at 100%.
5. Design
As I said, the OPPO Reno6 5G comes in four colours; aurora, black, purple, or blue. The phone is about 182 grams, with a 7.59 mm thickness. This is quite handy, and especially if you prefer lighter phones. It fits perfectly in my pocket which makes it both reliable and practical. It is, as they say, designed to dazzle. The ultra-slim retro design is slim and light, while the flat-edged, middle frame design is super comfortable.
6. 5G Capabilities
Fifth-generation wireless (5G) is the latest iteration of cellular technology, engineered to greatly increase the speed and responsiveness of wireless networks. It enables a sharp increase in the amount of data transmitted over wireless systems due to more available bandwidth and advanced antenna technology. 5G improves accessibility and extended the reach of mobile broadband. But 5G is not yet enabled here so this is a feature for the future when the networks activate 5G.
The phone is dope at taking pictures and videos. Everyone whose pictures we took agreed that the camera is awesome. The fast charge and battery life are amazing. So get yourself an OPPO Reno6 phone. Here are the features of the phone.
