Jeans are a staple for most people because they are comfortable, reliable, resistant to wear and tear and they are omnipresent. Not to forget the options are endless. Nonetheless, what appeals to most of us is jeans are versatile, easy to style and timeless. Here is How To Choose The Perfect Jeans For Your Body Type

But before we get to styling, how do you tell if a pair of jeans fit without trying them on? Whenever you’re out buying a pair of jeans, start by;

  • Wrapping the waist of the jeans around your neck. The ends can fail to meet but at least they should come close. Since your neck’s circumference is believed to be half your waist’s circumference, this test determines the size.
  • Another way is the arm test. While clenching your fist, and your arm bent at a right angle,  fit your arm in a zipped-up waistband.  Your arm shouldn’t fit if the jeans are high-waisted. But if it fits on mid-rise or low rise types of jeans, then you’ve found the fit for your waist size.
  • To test if the length is okay, fit your arm into the leg of the jeans and go as far as you can. If the middle of the jeans reaches under your chin, don’t look back. You have just gotten yourself the perfect jeans.

Now that you’ve found a fitting pair of jeans, the following are a myriad of looks and based on your personal style you’re bound to find a couple that will tick your fancy.

  1. Get the flattering white T-shirt

Scoop cuts and v-neck t-shirts will look most flattering if you have a big bust while polo, square and crew necks will look best on smaller busts. That said, a white t-shirt is one of the lifesaver outfits you can never go wrong wearing, and one of the simplest attire the industry will never stop layering.

With a white t-shirt, you can pair it with your blue jeans for a classic model look, tuck it in to draw attention to your curves while elongating your legs or tie it on the front to add pizzazz to your outfit. Here are 8 Ways to style a plain white t-shirt.

Alongside the white t-shirt, you shouldn’t leave behind the white shirt.

  1. An oversized/boyfriend blazer

Blazers may come and go but one thing that never goes out of style is the oversized black blazer. To get the perfect fit, pay attention to the cut. Is it straight, curvy or boxy? Straight cuts are easiest to tweak and they give you that edgy look you are aiming for. Next, look at the label. Is it shawl style, notched or peaked? Go for the notch and peaked ones as they go with most outfits.

Lastly, look at the buttons. Are they single or double-breasted? Choose double-breasted buttons for formal looks and single buttons for a casual fit. In terms of measurements, it is safe to go bigger than smaller. After all, the goal is to have an oversized blazer and in case it happens to be too big you can always take it to a tailor. Pair your blazer with skinny jeans. Here are Five Different Ways Of Styling A Blazer

  • Boxy cut oversized blazer with jeans

Since boxy blazers can tend to overwhelm your frame, a good way to counter this is by adding a suitable belt to your outfit to cinch in the waist.

  • Wear Jeans with a long coat

To add mystery to your ensemble, try this detective look but with more flair and a sense of style. All you need is a pair of high rise jeans; a light wash is preferable to create contrast within your outfit and seal the look with a long coat and a pair of sharp-pointed ankle boots. 1. Denim on denim

Like the white t-shirt or shirt, Denim is the next most basic and classic way you could wear your jeans. Try an oversized denim jacket with skinny jeans, or go for the boxy look by pairing overside pair of jeans with an oversized denim jacket. You could also opt for the model-inspired look by pairing your skinny jeans with a well-fitted denim blouse and a pair of black heels. More on denim on denim

  • Jeans with different types of tops

To sass up your look, invest in different types of tops and styles including off-shoulders, tank tops, pull necks, turtle necks, crop tops, sweater tops, camisoles, bralettes, halter tops, corsets, Kimono tops, Ankara – the list is endless.

  1. Wear a dress over the jeans

I remember this combo from when I was a little girl. Nonetheless, this remains a very stylish look. A few pointers if you want to pull off this outfit; ensure the dress is made of light fabric, flowy so you can flaunt your dress and that the design isn’t heavily structured to avoid looking overdone. Choose a dress that you can unbutton, tie or tuck in at one side.

A great way to optimise those ripped sweaters, see-through dresses, or dresses with slits, is to wear them with a pair of jeans underneath. Seal the look by adding a blazer, jacket and heels to elongate your legs. This can be your go-to look for cold seasons. Fashion: How To Stay Warm And Still Look Stylish

  1. Pair your jeans with fringe outfits

Fringe outfits are back like they never left. Rocking a fringe sweater, denim, blouse, leather jacket or a shoe is one way you can add a pop of fun and style to your boring jeans. Considering fringe is also trending in 2020, you have all the reasons to try this look for yourself.

  1. Pair your jeans with stylish shoes

We wouldn’t talk about styling without mentioning the myriad of shoes you can pair with your jeans. From flats to heels, boots to trendy sneakers you have an array of options at your disposal.

Regardless of the cut or style of your jeans always have in mind the look you’re aiming for. Heels elongate your legs and are perfect when you want to style up. Flat shoes guarantee comfort hence you can wear them when you want to dress down, while boots and trendy sneakers add spice to your ensemble. Find the right shoes for your leg shape.
