dream house

If you are like me your dream of a good life comes compete with a dream to buy a piece of land for either farming or putting up your dream house. Actually if your budget is high enough you can even do both. Land is a very valuable commodity all over the world. Land is the only asset which I believe always appreciates.

But let us face it land in Kenya is expensive.  Thinking about the ideal place to get a plot, then finding out the cost may put you off.  It is possible you may think “at this rate I will die without a piece of land to call my own.”  Many young people, especially those who have just started on their career path, may want to own some property but the hurdles  may look impossible to jump over.

I remember going to one of the mortgage banks a couple of years ago. I had this dream of how by the age of 30 I would own a home of my own. Then the questions started!

How much do you earn?
Are you on contract or a permanent employee?
So you are contract, how many years?

By the time they finished calculating how much they could give me, I was already depressed. Turns out that if you are contract you can only get a mortgage for 10 years. Then when they calculate how much they would give you and the interest, you can see that this route may kill the dream of owning your own home. It is like you get penalized for not being permanently employed, which is really sad because most companies nowadays prefer contracts instead of pensionable employees.

So I decided that I will just have to buy land instead and build my dream home instead. With banks financing buying land and also financing construction this is the way to go. You can save up to buy a plot and then have the bank build you a house.

A couple of months some friends and I started a chamaa. Part of the idea is for us to save together in order to buy land. Sometimes the fastest way to achieve your dreams is by partnering with others.

I am keen on investing in land so when I came across this company I decided to check them out. Property Reality Company is selling a piece of land at really good rates which are affordable to anybody looking to have their own piece of real estate. They are selling a 1/8 of an acre for 100,000/= for those who are cash buyers, and 160,000/= an acre for those who would prefer 4 monthly installments. Title deeds are handed over with completion of payment, all costs inclusive. This looks like a great deal for me.

I have put a brief bio of who they are in case you are interested.

PRC is a land exceptionally well positioned to identify valuable land in prime areas throughout the country. We sub divide the acquired piece of land into plots of various sizes, the smallest being an eighth of an acre (50x100m). With the vision 2030 in mind, we have put special focus on acquiring land in areas with potential technological growth.

You can either buy this land for speculative purposes  or you can buy it to put up your dream home. Considering it is only 12 km from Olopolos it is not far from town and it is also quite close to some of the best quality meat you will ever eat. Also with the road network coming up around Nairobi this may be the new Kitengela. It is also a beautiful place with great scenery.

Check out the YouTube video below for more info. For more details please visit http://prc.co.ke/ or email them at info@prc.co.ke.

This is something that I would love to invest in. I think I will discuss it with my chamaa at our next meeting. Actually I think I will send them the link.

PS. This is not an endorsement of The Property Reality Company. Always do due diligence before buying land from an individual or company. This includes a search at Ministry of Lands.

Hopefully one day soon I will be able to start on the foundation of my dream house (picture at the top)
