The darkness is cold,
It comes to me like a cold breeze
And I can’t breathe.
Loneliness creeps on me
And holds me close,
It is my companion,
Not my friend,
But that enemy that is closer than a friend.
I struggle to survive the night,
To let dawn’s warm light unfreeze my bones,
And maybe one day reach my heart,
Unfreeze my cold cold heart,
That doesn’t want love,
Then I will breathe again,
My heart will live again.
I won’t fear the night,
And the loneliness that bites.
