I have been in countless situations where I see an attractive guy and just admire him from afar. The reason is that I usually have this mentality that attraction rarely leads to anything solid. However, with Melvin things were different. It was the end of the month, and I had a couple of things I needed to buy from the mall. I hate shopping days because of long queues and having to move from one shop to another. On this particular day though I didn’t mind.

I spotted Melvin from afar and not only did I find him attractive, but I also loved the fact that he was buying skin care products. At first, I thought they were for a woman in his life until I noticed his glowing skin. I kept glancing at him until he left the shop then we ended up bumping into each other at another shop. He approached me with a smile and even though I looked calm I was so tense.

“Hey,” He said.

“Hey,” I replied.

“Sorry to approach you like this, but I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful you are.” He said.

“Thank you, that’s so kind of you,” I responded trying not to blush.

“I know this may be a bit straightforward, but would you like to go on a date with me sometime?” He asked.

“Yeah, I would like that,” I replied.

He handed me his phone and I saved my number.

“I’ll hit you up then we can plan,” He said.

“I’ll be waiting,” I replied with a smile.

Later that night he texted me and we settled on a day for the date which was the weekend that followed. On the day of the date, he called me in the morning.

“Hello beautiful, what time should I pick you up for our date?” He asked.

“I think it would be better if we just met at the restaurant,” I said.

“Promise I’m not a serial killer, but I’ll respect your decision,” He said while letting out a slight chuckle.

“I appreciate that,” I said while laughing.

“Is 7 pm okay with you?” He asked.

“Yes, it is,” I replied.

“Okay, see you then,” He said before hanging up.

Since the restaurant he picked out was quite a distance from my place I decided to leave the house at 5 pm. The moment I stepped out of the house a message popped up on my phone and I realized he had sent me money for a cab.

“It’s like he can see me leaving the house,” I thought to myself while closing the door.

My Uber arrived in a couple of minutes, and I ended up getting to the restaurant at 6:30 pm. I figured since it was early, I could go in and take a couple of photos but was stunned to find Melvin waiting for me.

“You’re early,” I said as I pulled the chair back to sit.

“Yes, I don’t like making people wait for me, there’s nothing more annoying than being late for a meetup,” He said.

“Same! I usually feel so irritated when I agree to meet up with someone at a specific time then they show up an hour or two later,” I replied.

The conversation flowed from there and everything was going well until he received a phone call. His facial expression changed so rapidly.

“I need to go to the restroom,” He said.

“Okay,” I replied.

He got up quickly and rushed to the restroom which was straight ahead. I didn’t think much about the situation until I realised that he had spent an hour there. Judging from the stories I have heard my first thought was that he had run off and left me with the bill. A short while later he walked out and came back to the table.

“Are you okay?” I asked immediately he sat down.

“Yeah, all good,” He replied.

I didn’t believe him because he looked uneasy but since I didn’t know him well, I decided to let it slide.

The waiter brought our food, and we ate silently. A few minutes passed and a group of guys walked in and settled in the bar area of the restaurant. The booth Melvin had picked out was near the bar so I could easily hear people’s conversations.

“Can you believe that my man is on a date with some random woman?” One of the guys said.

I usually hate being involved in dramas, but I like listening to tea, so I decided to focus on the conversation.

“What? Did you talk to him about it?” Another guy asked.

“Yeah, and he dared to lie to me not knowing that I could easily find his location,” The guy replied.

After that line, I noticed Melvin moving so close to the corner like he was trying to avoid being seen. Then out of the blue, he told me that he needed to use the washroom again and before I could respond he had vanished.

Ten minutes later the group of guys also went into the washroom which made me wonder if they all had an issue. He stayed there for another hour, which led me to worry. I decided to call to find out if he was okay but before I could dial his number, the bartender rushed to the washroom followed by the security guards.

“What’s going on?” I heard someone say before Melvin was pushed out of the restroom by one of the guys.

“You’re out on a date while you left me sitting at home? You weren’t going to let her know that you have a man then you go and hide in the restroom thinking I won’t find you?” The guy yelled.

The people who were seated next to the restroom turned and looked at me while whispering to each other. I was still trying to wrap my head around what the man had just said.

“So, you don’t have anything to say? How could you do this to me again?” He added.

“His man? Again?” I thought to myself.

I have been in weird situations in my life, but this was something else. To avoid drawing more attention to myself, I signaled to the waiter to bring me the bill. Judging by the situation I knew Melvin was probably not going to sort out the bill or my transport. Luckily, the waiter didn’t keep me waiting. I paid quickly and rushed outside to order an Uber.

The driver arrived and I quickly got into the car. During the car ride home, I decided to block Melvin on every social platform. The following day, I woke up to find that he had sent me more money than I had used. He never tried to contact me again, which was a relief. Men can show you wonders.
