Phone photography is growing among photography enthusiasts. Phone makers are designing their devices to capture high-quality images even with the poorest lighting. As a result, OPPO has launched the IF Photography Competition 2023.
Mobile photography is great because users get to carry around their devices rather than lugging around a digital camera. They also provide a direct place to store photos, such as the phone’s cloud service. Photos must be physically moved from the camera’s SD card to a computer when using a digital camera. Cell phones also have bigger screens. They’re also optimized for selfie photography. Having a phone with a great camera also makes capturing moments on the fly easier and helps users preserve their most beautiful memories.

The OPPO IF Photography Competition
It’s one of the highest prizes in mobile photography. The competition pushes the boundaries of creativity beyond existing images and expressions. OPPO remains committed to driving progress through innovation and inspiring creatives globally. The vision of “Beyond the Image, Beyond Imagination” reinforces this commitment. OPPO’s mobile photography tech provides maximum aesthetics and allows non-professional photographers to create masterpieces.
The competition gives out three awards.
1. Golden Award
The OPPO Imagine IF Master of the Year gets $23,000. They also participate in the Hasselblad Image Training Camp and exhibit their photos internationally. This is given to one individual.
2. Silver Award
This is given to four individuals. It has a cash prize of $8000. Winners also get training and exposure.
3. Bronze Award
Ten winners can claim this prize of $3000. In addition, they get training and exposure.
There will be four honourable mentions in each of the eight categories, Partner Channel Awards and Monthly Activity Awards.

The Photography Competition Judges
OPPO has assembled prestigious judges of globally known photographers who will bring experience to the competition. It comprises Alec Soth, one of the most famous contemporary photographers and a member of Magnum Photos. Additionally, it has Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer of OPPO Peter Lau.
Hasselblad Masters Tang Hui and Tina Signesdottir Hult are master portrait and art photographers, respectively. Wang Jianjun is a Chinese Photographers Association member and a world-renowned landscape photographer. Yin Chao is a Hasselblad ambassador and an iconic fashion photographer.
Photography Competition Categories
There are eight categories featured to inspire creativity. They include The Distant View, Night Scenery, Colours, Landscape, The Taste of Memories, Chapters of a Life, Light and Shadow, and finally, Portrait.
How to participate
Kenyan OPPO users can visit the official competition website to submit their photos. The competition is open until July 25, 2023. Every photo has to be taken with an OPPO or OnePlus device. Users have to be at least 18 years old. Each entry must be an original work that hasn’t been published elsewhere. Each entry is free. Users can submit photos based on the categories. The same photo can be submitted to different categories but will be counted as one entry.
The entries must be submitted complete with EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data. They must also not have elements of violence, pornography, racial discrimination, or a reaction against or denigration of society, religion, or religious taboos. The photos must comply with laws and regulations and not violate public order.
Photos should not be altered with Photoshop or Lightroom. Limited post-processing is permissible. Images that change the original content aren’t allowed. The photos should only be in JPG format and at least 1000 pixels in width. Each photo shouldn’t exceed 20MB.
