Kenyans always find a way to relieve tension, especially during serious times. There have been many memes circulating on social media around different aspects of the elections. If you are a fan of Twitter, then you know that a majority of the good ones are always on that app.

Here are a few interesting ones from different users.

You decide to take a nap because the queue is long, and you would rather go later, but because afternoon naps slap, you wake up at 7 pm.

During the 2017 elections, we had “Githeri man”. This year it’s “Towel man”. This is the perfect definition of so much to do but so little time.

Why should you wake up early and show up to the polling centre looking casual when you can spend time doing your makeup and turn heads as you walk in to vote?

Aspirants were here wanting to show up, vote and leave quickly to go home and wait anxiously, but they forgot that they were supposed to lead by example and not skip the line at the stations.

During the debates, there were very many opposing thoughts about who is the best aspirant for different seats. Imagine having a discussion with someone and then realising they won’t even be voting for the person they are fighting for because they will be in their upcountry.

If you attended a boarding school, you know how exciting visiting days were. You were always hoping that your parent would show up early, so you spend time together, then they show up late. Now, as an adult, you see your parent waking up at 4 am to go vote, and you’re just wondering where this energy was back then.

You and your significant another end up voting in different polling stations. Sometime later, you call them, and they tell you there’s a queue, but behind the scenes, they’re busy cosying up with someone else.

He forgot to mention Juja and Rongai.

The second example of a good pick-up line, especially when you want to get your ex back.

There seems to be quite a trend with these pick-up lines, but if you are used to Twitter, you know they can make your day.

Some fathers spend the election period after voting like this. Then after a while, they end up dozing off on the sofa, but once somebody decides to touch the remote control, they are wide awake.

“I’ve gone to vote,” then he returns during the next elections. This meme also describes the people who go upcountry to vote, except they usually carry everything, including sufuria’s and spoons.

You go and vote hoping to make a difference with your choice, while someone who has recently joined the number of voters is making a decision based on who is the most attractive aspirant.

As Kenyans, there is always this trend of wanting to skip the queue, especially when one knows the officials, but they end up clowning when they realise the officials are unwilling to get with the program.

Influencers and YouTubers never fail to amaze, even on serious occasions.
