Every day, people are discovering the benefits of juicing and making the switch to a healthy diet. Some people opt for this method because they’re not fans of eating whole fruits and vegetables while others believe that this is a better way to get the nutrients without putting strain on your digestive system. Whatever the reasons, we can all agree that juicing helps us increase our nutrients intake and keep our bodies in great shape. However, if not done correctly, it can have negative effects on your health. You need to avoid common mistakes that people make when juicing to rip the benefits. Here are some mistakes to avoid.

Using Only Sweet Fruits

One of the reasons many people don’t like eating fruits and vegetables is because of the taste. It’s a fact that most healthy foods are not delicious. However, many people also make the same mistake when juicing. Using only sweet fruits can cause a spike in your blood sugar which is harmful to your health. Add a few vegetables to limit the amount of sugar intake. This also increases the nutritional value of the drink making it healthier.

Putting Random Ingredients

Juicing isn’t about throwing in a bunch of fruits and veggies and extracting juice from them. There’s a method to it. if you want to get the most out of your juice, learn which fruits and vegetables go well together. For starters, you can’t juice a banana because they don’t contain enough liquid content for them to be pressed into juice. Other fruits include blueberries, cherries, avocados and mangoes. You would rather blend these fruits. Some great combinations include carrot, ginger, and orange juice or strawberry, apple, and lime juice. Here are some recipes you can try.

Drinking In A Hurry

Contrary to popular belief, downing your juice doesn’t make it work better. In fact, it does more harm than good. Fresh juice needs to be savoured like a good glass of wine. This not only makes you enjoy the taste but also gives your saliva enzymes a chance to absorb the nutrients before digestion in the stomach. This way, you get more nutrients than you would have if you drink it all in one sip.

Replacing Solid Food With Juice

It’s easy to get carried away with juicing since it’s convenient and promises to keep you in shape. However, this should not replace solid food. You still need nutrients from other foods to stay healthy. Additionally, if you skip meals for a prolonged period of time, your body will slow its metabolism to preserve energy making you gain weight instead of losing it. You can juice for a few days and then go back to eating solid foods.

Using The Same Ingredients Everyday

All fruits and vegetables are not equal. There are different categories that contain different nutrients. Therefore, using the same ingredients limits you to certain nutrients while depriving you of others. Fruits and vegetables also contain some toxins to protect themselves from attack and eating the same products for a long can cause the toxins to gather in your system compromising your immunity. When you start juicing, ensure that you get a variety of products.

Failing To Listen To Your Body

People react differently to juicing and what might work for someone else might not work for you. So, always observe how your body reacts and if you feel like you can’t continue, just stop. However, there are some common symptoms that people experience from a juice cleanse including skin breakouts, sweating, vomiting, diarrhea, and, loss of energy. You shouldn’t be alarmed when you experience this. Additionally, the more toxins your body has, the more severe the symptoms.
