Trying out new skincare products is almost always a hit or miss. Three years ago I tried out something new that made me experience hyperpigmentation which I’m still battling with to date. No matter how credible the brand is, before trying out anything new on our skin, you need to do your due diligence and research on it.
I have had my eye on The Life Brand sheet masks for a while. I recently bought the Moisturizing Hydratant sheet mask, which is a facial sheet cream mask. It’s heavier in texture than usual, perhaps due to the cream in it. The mask sat on my face much better, easier, and faster than many sheet masks that I have used previously. Here is a detailed review of the Life Brand Moisturizing Hydratant sheet mask.
Initial thoughts
As I put the sheet mask on my face, it had a slight tingling sensation. I was a little worried that it could have been a reaction but within a few minutes, it had settled and become less irritating. The cream on the mask is heavy, so you feel a lot more weight on your face, but not too worry. It’s not something you can’t handle.
Manufacturer’s claims
The Life Brand Moisturizing Hydratant mask is hypoallergenic, meaning that it contains few allergy-producing substances known as allergens. It is enriched with the extracts of three plums from Australia which are rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants to moisturize and rejuvenate the skin’s appearance. It also has Ceramide that helps to maintain the skin’s natural barrier, keeping it looking hydrated and healthy.
Directions
As a rule, you should always follow the directions given for any skincare product. This can determine your experience with the product. Always do what you are told.
The directions on the Life Brand Moisturizing Hydratatnt mask are: Thoroughly cleanse and dry the face. Open the packet, and unfold the mask carefully. Apply mask to your face, avoiding the eyes and the mouth. Gently smooth over skin to ensure good contact. Wear the mask for 10-15 minutes. To remove, peel off slowly from the edges and gently massage in any excess cream. Pat dry.
The manufacturer also advises that you test the product on your skin before use, by applying a small amount to the inside of the upper arm. If any irritation or redness, do not use the product.
Ingredients
The first ingredient mentioned is Aqua care, which is a good indication of its moisturizing properties. It softens rough or dry skin caused by skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and keratosis. It also contains Sunflower seed oil, a carrier oil that is highly absorbent and won’t clog pores. It’s non-irritating for most people and can be used on all types of skin, including dry, normal, oily, and acne-prone.
The Life Brand Moisturizing Hydratant has Glyceryl Stearate that acts as a lubricant on the skin’s surface, giving it a soft and smooth appearance. Another major listed ingredient is Stearic acid which softens and smooths the skin’s surface while also helping to maintain the skin barrier.
Price
I got the product for approximately 3 USD per sheet mask and shipped it in through relatives who were coming to Kenya. This is quite affordable, especially since a face mask is not a daily thing. For what the sheet mask does, I believe that it’s worth the coins.
Review
After using the Life Brand Moisturizing Hydratant several times, I will be incorporating it into my regular routine. It does the job of moisturizing my skin which happens to be normal skin. It has an easy application process, smells great, and is affordable. The remnants of the cream in the pack can be incorporated into a daily routine. Don’t throw away the packet just yet. Another thing that I noticed is that it doesn’t make your face unnecessarily shiny. It looks normal. You can use this sheet mask right before leaving the house and you will be good to go. For these reasons, I will be using the mask again.
