OPPO recently launched the OPPO A92 phone together with the one of a kind OPPO Enco W31 Wireless Earphones their premium wireless earphones. Check out The OPPO A92 Phone Review
The OPPO Enco W31 Wireless Earphones are small and lightweight and have silicone in-ear tips to offer a more adaptable fit and help the buds stay in place. The charging case has a smooth matte surface which doubles as a wireless charger for the earphones. At the bottom, there’s a USB-C port to recharge the case and buds.
I’ve come to enjoy wireless headphones, but have not used wireless earphones until now. I’ve been using them for a couple of weeks now and these are my thoughts.
What’s in the Box?
The Box has a charging case, the earphones, earbud tips and a type C charging cable.
Design
The earphones come in a compact round case that also functions as a charging case. The cases and earphones come in black or white.

The inside of the case features grooves to store as well as charge the earphones. The earphones are held in the case by magnets. The case also features a pairing button and an indicator light that shows the battery charge levels, from red to green.
The Earphones
The OPPO Enco W31 Wireless Earphones are sleek and light. I have a black pair, which matches my OPPO A92 phone.
There are rubber tips inside the box to cater for different ear sizes. There are small, medium and large sizes to choose from for your comfort. I use the smaller size because my ears are tiny. They fit well and are comfortable for long-term use.
The earphones don’t come with active noise cancellation but do a decent job of blocking most noise so you can listen to music or watch movies without outside interference. I especially enjoy using them for my meditation and yoga.

The primary and secondary microphones on both stems ensure call clarity.
The earphones are dust and water-resistant so you can comfortably go running in them. The resistance is limited though so don’t submerge them in water.
How They Work
The earbuds touch controls are on the stems. You can switch between bass and balanced audio modes by double-tapping on the left earbud, change tracks by double-tapping on the right earbud and activate the Google Assistant by triple tapping. You can also tap an earbud to end or answer a call.
One thing worth noting is that removing one earbud will pause playing on any media and plugging it back will automatically resume media playing. I love this feature because it means I don’t miss a thing if I am interrupted.
However, you can also play tracks with one earbud if you’d like to as they both support Mono and Stereo mode. If you do remove them, however, controls will be limited.
The Specs
The OPPO Enco W31 wireless earphones come with binaural audio transmission. They use Bluetooth 5.0 and support AAC codec so there’s a minimal delay when listening to media.
The audio performance is great and I haven’t been disappointed. The audio is crystal clear with no distortion and lag.
The battery life is dependent on use but can go up to 5 hours at 50% volume. I’m a heavy user so my usage time is about 3 hours.
Charging takes about half an hour and the case can charge the earphones up to four times. Battery level is also shown on Bluetooth settings on your phone.
The earphones do not come with multipoint so you can only connect to one device at a time.
Here are some of the other features.
The Bluetooth earphone has the lowest delays in audio, with a latency of just 94ms.
OPPO W31 wireless earphones have binaural low-latency Bluetooth transmissions, dual-microphone noise cancellation during calls, IP54 dust and water resistance.
OPPO W31 wireless earphones have a smart connection and intelligent touch controls. Simply open the charging case to connect, and the headphones can sense whether they’re being worn, then automatically pause or play audio in response. The earphones have very easy-to-learn touch controls.
Price and Availability
You can get the OPPO W31 wireless earphones online and in OPPO’s official retail stores for Ksh 8,000. There’s a Ksh 2000 discount if you decide to buy them bundled with the OPPO A92.
Verdict
The OPPO Enco W31 offers a good balance of design and audio quality. For a reasonable price, you get great sound, a solid battery life, a pocketable case, better than average call quality and an IP54 rating for great value.
The OPPO Enco W31 earphones go very well with the OPPO Reno 3 or the OPPO A92 which are both excellent OPPO phones that came out in the last 6 months.
