The Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 was launched a couple of weeks ago. I have had the phone for a couple of weeks now and I like it. First things first what does the phone come with. The phone comes with a charger – 5V/2A, earphones, a plastic case, micro USB and a screen protector. If you are like me and you tend to have butterfingers then the screen protector and transparent plastic case are important. It also comes with the pin for opening the side so that you can insert your SIM Cards and SD card.
The most noticeable things about the new phone are that the phone battery is more powerful, there is AI powering the camera, the display size is now bigger and it has a dewdrop notch which is pretty cool. The phone is bigger but it is not too heavy. Some of the features are the 4,000 mAh battery, 6.26 inch LCD display, 3 GB RAM, 13MP dual camera and a 16MP selfie camera and also that the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chip
Battery Power
The 4000mAh battery is a plus. You can use it for very long without worrying about the battery power. When your battery is low, you can use the power saving mode that limits data, GPS and other apps. Ultra-saving mode only allows you to use 3 apps of choice. Smart resolution lowers the screen resolution as requires to help save power.
Display
The Huawei Y7 has rounded edges on the backside of the device and this makes the display look bigger then it actually is. The screen is slightly bigger than the Y7 Prime 2018. The display is great. I was able to watch my Netflix, and Youtube videos quite comfortably. I also got to read my kindle books quite easily. The sound quality is great.
The Huawei Y7 comes in 3 colours and I had the midnight black one but if I had an option I would take the Coral Red one. There is also the Aurora Blue which is quite pretty.
It has face recognition software installed so you can feel secure that the phone will not give away your secrets. Face recognition wasn’t there in previous models. Together with the fingerprint reader, this feature ensures that you have maximum security on your phone making it harder for someone else to unlock your phone.
Storage
The Huawei Y7 comes with 32G of storage which is quite a bit of storage. I shot some videos and pictures and only managed to use 16GB. But it also depends on how big you want your pictures to be, I usually go for the lowest resolution available so that I can get more photos. But if you like to have a lot of content on your phone, like movies and music, you can get an expandable storage slot which will allow you to use a MicroSD card with up to 256 GB of memory.
Cameras
The phone has a 13MP + 2MP dual rear cameras. The front is a 16MP selfie camera. The phone takes great pictures during the day and it has pretty ok photos in low light – if you are focusing properly.
The phone app recognizes a number of scenes including people, food and buildings to capture the best photo it possibly can. You can expect crisper images with this phone thanks to the AI technology. This makes the Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 a good starting point for those keen on phone photography. But I would recommend The Huawei Y9 2019’s Impressive 4 AI Cameras if you are looking for a camera phone that will take your photos to the next level. But this is a decent phone to start with. It does have some issues sometimes of over expose or under expose of shots, so make sure you are checking the shots as you take them to make sure you got the perfect shot – especially when using a selfie stick.

This phone is a great phone for its price range especially if you love taking selfies. The AI cameras which are becoming a signature thing for Huawei will enable you to take your photography skills to the next level, without even thinking about it too much.
I have to admit that I am biased towards the Huawei Y9 but this phone is a pretty good phone for its price range. But if you have a little more cash, why not upgrade to the Huawei Y9. Phone Review: I Love The Huawei Y9 2019 Impressive 4 AI Cameras
