Most of us have experienced an awkward first date where none of you knows what to say. It can get painfully unbearable leading to an awful night. A first date is almost like an interview to determine the most suitable partner. If you find it difficult to strike up an interesting conversation on your first date, here are some great conversation starters you should definitely ask. Men: How To Know If Your First Date Is Going Well

  1. What does a typical day in your life entail?

This question helps determine two crucial things about that person. First, it determines whether they will have time for you. By knowing their schedule, you can tell if they are workaholics and might not have time for a relationship. Second, it shows whether the person is organized. If they can give a clear breakdown of their day to day life, they are both focused and organized. Additionally, this question gives more robust answers as opposed to asking them what they do for a living.

  1. How many siblings do you have?

A family gives people their identity. You can learn whether your date was a favourite child, troublemaker or an overachiever. It’s also a light-hearted topic to break the ice in most cases. Most likely, your date will go on to list their siblings and tell a little story about each one of them. However, if the family is a touchy subject for the other person don’t insist on talking about it.

  1. Where did you grow up?

Again, this is a necessary first date question gives off warm, nostalgic feelings remembering their childhood. Even if they struggled during their childhood, they’ll be more than happy to share how they turned their life around.

  1. How would your friends describe you?

Getting someone else’s viewpoint can tell a lot. By asking them how their friends would describe them will give you a different perspective of them. You also learn about their relationship with their friends which says a lot about who they are.

  1. What makes you tick?

Apart from finding out all the good things, you also need to know their bad side. Maybe they have a short fuse and get irritated at the slightest provocation. This is something you need to know before deciding to date them. It a good way for both of you to be honest with each other from the start.

  1. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Just like a job interview, you need to know your date’s long term goals so as to determine how serious they are in a relationship and life, in general. Asking about it gives both of you a clear understanding of each other. However, try to make the question fun unlike a job interview.

  1. What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t?

This when things get interesting on the first date. This is the quickest to know how adventurous your date is and whether you have things in common. Sit back and enjoy your date.
