Good speakers are a priority to me because entertainment is life. Since investing in a home theatre at this point in my life seems like one of those adult things I’m not ready for, I decided to invest in a wireless Bluetooth speaker. After some research, it was love at first sight for the JBL Charge 2+ speaker. It offers nifty features that are simply irresistible.
It’s portable. In fact, I put it right in my handbag the day I bought it. It weighs 450 grams and fits comfortably in your hand making it the perfect travel item if you’re going for a picnic or hiking. It can withstand wear due to heavy use since it’s made from durable material.
This speaker comes in eight different colours including red, black, teal, yellow and white. The colour doesn’t chip or rub off. I’ve been using my speaker for more than three months now and it still looks fairly new. It is also easy to clean.
It’s chargeable. It comes with a charging cable and a charging port which is compatible with most phones. The battery life lasts up to 12 hours once it is fully charged. It takes about 4 hours to be fully charged which is too long for me.
I have always been sceptical about the sound quality of Bluetooth speakers. I assumed, like most people would, that it might not have as much bass. However, the JBL Charge 2+ has an impressive sound. It has great sound clarity and a powerful bass. The output is quite enjoyable to listen to and its volume is loud enough. It’s quite the banger.
The speaker is water resistant not to be confused with waterproof like the JBL Flip 4. For this model, it can only withstand spills and splashes. However, the speaker cannot be submerged underwater and will malfunction if you do so.
It can stand vertically or horizontally. This cool design makes JBL Bluetooth speakers one of the few speakers to have both options. It is easier to operate while on stand mode and can be placed on horizontal mode on an unstable surface.
It also has a few tricks up its sleeve that took me by surprise. For instance, it comes with a USB port. You may ask, for what? Well, it can be used to charge your phone. So when all else fails, JBL Charge 2+ Bluetooth speaker can be used as a very bulky power bank. It has a call option for receiving and making phone calls. I have accidentally received a call several times while connected to the speaker and the sound is okay. I wouldn’t necessarily use this feature while making a private call.
This model retails for around Ksh. 22,000 which is almost the same as a home theatre system. It is available online on Jumia and Amazon.
For this price, you are guaranteed an amazing, well-designed speaker that fits in seamlessly in any space whether it’s your bedroom, car, living room or outdoors. The JBL Charge 2+ Bluetooth Speaker is a masterpiece.
