Children love playing games, and it is not only fun for them but they give children an opportunity to learn mental, physical and social skills.  Play also encourages children to consider options, learn how to follow rules and make independent choices. Through games, children can create, invent, discover and learn about their world while experiencing joy, and understanding themselves and others. Want to raise a well-rounded child? Here are some games to consider for childhood development:

       1. Board games

Board games like chess, scrabble and monopoly are really enjoyed by children and are great opportunities for families to spend time together. They teach children critical thinking and introduce them to the concept of rules and logical thinking. They also learn how to detect patterns, plan ahead and predict the outcomes of various actions. Have any at home? Play them with your children and see them develop these skills daily.  Entertainment: 8 Benefits For Playing Chess

       2. Puzzles

Children love to figure out how things fit and assembling puzzles is always a joy. When it comes to child development, they learn physical skills as their hand-eye coordination improves from putting puzzle pieces together, cognitive skills as they solve the puzzle problems and emotional skills as they learn patience while solving it. Puzzles also help children’s memory to remember shapes, pictures and how different things fit into each other. This leads them to understand their surrounding world better.

       3. Jenga

Jenga is a block-building game suitable for all ages. Each player removes and adds a block at a time with the objective being to make the tower taller without it falling over. The loser is the person who pulls out a block and makes the tower fall down. From playing with the blocks and building Jenga towers, children are taught to be creative, builds their self-esteem as they learn that they can imagine and build something, and they also learn to play and share with others. They also learn better hand-eye coordination, pattern recognition and verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Plus, it’s also a very fun game to play!

       4. Picture games

When it comes to childhood development, it is hard to go wrong with picture games. Picture games are a great way to teach your toddler about new words. Seeing the pictures helps their memory and helps them associate certain words with them. as they grow older, picture games help children to identify letters and numbers, learn sentence structure, and improve their memory and creativity.

       5. Hide and Seek

Remember playing brikicho when you were younger? It may seem like a simple game but it is good for your child. It starts with playing the peek-a-boo game with babies that teaches them that things can exist even if they can’t see them. As they get older, children start playing hide and seek and learn to develop their problem solving and strategy skills as they work out the best places to hide or find their target. They also learn teamwork, how to communicate effectively, taking turns and how to deal with conflicts between participants (remember ameua nyungu?). Parenting: 5 Inexpensive Things To Do With Your Children This Holiday
