On Thurday Renault Kenya were launching two cars into the Kenyan Market; The Renault Kadjar a mid-sized luxury SUV and the Renault Duster Diesel 4 Wheel drive which is a full feature upgrade of the 2 wheel drive that was already on sale in Kenya. The new Renault Duster has made some considerable improvements over the old one in terms of the features offered and the interior of the car. Some of the noticeable changes are the facelifted front design which looks a lot better than the previous model, the increase in the features offered as standard and the fact that the new model comes as 4 wheel drive. The new Duster also has better fuel economy, is more powerful and is a tad faster than its predecessor. You can check out our review of the Renault Duster here.
The Renault Kadjar in itself is quite striking. The new Renault face looks great with its clean lines and nice curves and the LED daytime running lights make it hard to look away. The stylish build is continued at the back with a shapely rear gate and nicely shaped unique tail lamps. The big Renault badge at the front gives it a very distinct yet flowing feel which blends in well with the overall design of the car. It comes standard with Dual Zone Climate Control, Keyless Entry, Parking Assist, Electronic Parking Brake and an Eco Mode which promises to help a lot with fuel efficiency while driving. It is available either as a 1.2 Litre petrol which is a 7 speed Automatic and a 1.6 litre diesel which is a 6-speed manual. As far as first impressions go, the Kadjar looks like it holds its own against its immediate competition, which in the local market is the Nissan Qashqai. Look forward to our in-depth review of the Renault Kadjar with more detail on the car’s specs and the drive.
Speaking during the Launch, Renault Brand Manager Mr. Jonathan Dos Santos in Kenya stated that their main aim is to penetrate the new car market and as such, they are looking to offer reasonably priced cars that are best suited to the market and the people’s needs. He went on to say that Renault Kenya understands that Kenyans are looking for value for their money and they are aiming to be among the front-runners in delivering that quality. They will continue to deliver quality vehicles with great driving experience at competitive prices.
He also mentioned that Renault Kenya had invested quite a bit into raising the car owner’s confidence in Renault’s products and service in the country, with a state of the art service and repair facility at the Aspire Centre along Waiyaki Way in Westlands Nairobi which will cater to all Renault cars. Renault will continue to invest in the Kenyan market over the next 5 years with new cars being brought in to provide more options for car enthusiasts.
We will be watching and keeping you abreast with any developments as they happen.
