Celebrated UK Theatre Director, Stuart Nash is opening a unique performing arts academy in Nairobi. The Nairobi Performing Arts Studio (NPAS) will be based at the Kenya National Theatre Complex. It offers after-school/work and weekend classes to students and adults in Drama, Dance and Voice Training/Singing, to provide students with all-round working knowledge of drama and musical theatre, as well as the opportunity to appear in professional-level plays and musicals at the Kenya National Theatre.

After having lived in East Africa for a while, Stuart Nash saw a lack of opportunity for students and adults to be able to develop their talents in acting, dancing or singing. This is what has birthed the NAIROBI PERFORMING ARTS STUDIO to bring those disciplines under one roof for the first time in Kenya. Courses will be taught by acclaimed professionals in the music, theatre, film and TV industries including professors and tutors from Kenyatta University, Sauti Academy and Kenya Conservatoire of Music.

NPAS also offers Master Classes by celebrated actors, singers, directors and choreographers, including Ian Mbugua – Directing/Acting; Willis Austin Chimano (Sauti Sol) – Singing, Edwin Odhiambo (Judge Edu) – Dance/Choreography; Mkamzee Mwatela (Acting).

NPAS director, Stuart has also announced his partnership with Kenya National Theatre and The Kenya Conservatoire of Music to bring the world renown musical, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR slated for staging on APRIL 7th – 17th 2017 and five other musicals throughout 2017-2018.

We look forward to seeing great things from the academy.
