I hope you haven’t made any plans for this weekend because there is a fantastic event going down this Saturday. Live Dimensions featuring Atemi Oyungu and Fena Gitu will be happening at the Carnivore Simba Saloon. Pine Creek Records created the event which happens every quarter and it is intended to create a space for people to experience Kenyan music live. The last Live Dimensions happened on Easter Friday and featured Chris Adwar and Benjamin Webi.
Fena Gitu creates music that is a fusion of neo soul, afro soul, reggae, hip hop and afro house to create her own ‘Fenamenal’ style that she calls Urban Soul. Some of her singles you may have listened to include ‘Africa Kings‘, ‘Dutch‘ feat Kagwe Mungai and ‘Brikicho’ with Electrique Dj’s. She has performed alongside many musical greats such at Vivian Greene, Davido, Ice Prince, Olamide and most recently Yvonne Chaka Chaka.
Atemi Oyungu is one of Kenya’s most talented vocalists and most renowned performers. Her style is a fusion of neo soul, afro soul and afro pop. Her latest hits are ‘Bebi Bebi’ and ‘Kama We‘ feat Khaligraph Jones. She has been in the industry for a while and she has memorable hits including ‘Happy’ and ‘Nairobi yangu’. She has performed alongside great acts like Ali Kiba, Grammy Award winner Anthony Hamilton, Les Nubians, Maxi Priest, Lira and Simpiwe Dana to name a few, and has been compared to Miriam Makeba and Jill Scott with her vocal style. We are eagerly waiting for Atemi’s 3rd album which is due for release later on in 2016.
