Motor dealer RMA Kenya last week launched its sports utility vehicle (SUV) under the Jaguar brand dubbed the Jaguar F-Pace. Its powerful, agile look and sporting character give the F-Pace a unique road presence giving the car and outlook of a performance SUV with the DNA of a sports car.

At the exclusive event in Westlands on Thursday, RMA Kenya put on quite a show to welcome this new baby into the Kenyan market. There was entertainment by Gilad and the MC for the night was Renee Ngamau. There was an unusual kind of catwalk, where the different types of Jaguar cars available at RMA modelled on the catwalk. There was an opportunity for the guests to see the Jaguars that RMA has to offer. Just before each Jaguar went on the catwalk the car was welcomed by some music from Kenyan and Indian traditional drummers. The show stopper of the night was when two Jaguar F-Pace SUV’s (red and blue) were revealed. Guests were able to enter the cars to check them out and take selfies. One of the amazing things about this Jaguar is that to open the boot all you have to do is sweep your leg under the boot and the sensor will open the boot.

The F-Pace, which is unmistakably a Jaguar with its signature front grille and the F-type inspired rear taillights, is the first SUV from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and adds to RMA’s line of Jaguar cars; that primarily include sedans and coupes, retails between Kshs 8 million and Kshs 14 million depending on specifications. It comes with the option of two and three-liter diesel engines and a three liter petrol engine.

The Jaguar F-Pace also has an eight speed automatic transmission and allows drivers to manually control gear shifts via the steering wheel paddles. The engines include the 380hp 3.0L supercharged V6 or the standard 340hp that propels it from 0-100km/h in just 5.5 seconds.

The F-Pace will compete against other rival luxury brands such as BMW X3 and the X4 sold by Bavaria Auto, Porsche Cayenne (Porsche Center Nairobi) and Mercedes GLE series (DT Dobie).

Some of the other main features of the F-Pace include:
- It’s an all-wheel drive offering a rear-wheel drive bias
- The F-Pace is a superb choice for a sporty city SUV that uses a near 80 per cent lightweight aluminium body structure
- A large boot capacity which is around 650 liters and a versatile 40:20:40 rear seat folding configuration; a space big enough for people to carry large amounts of luggage.
- Rear seats which are incredibly spacious and also provides significantly more knee and head room than its competitors. In the rear, the leg room is 945mm and knee room is 65mm.
- Optical panoramic glass roof giving the car that spacious feeling
- The F-Pace’s floor can be switched in an instant, from luxury carpet to an easy-clean, rubberized surface which is perfect for protecting the F-Pace’s smart interior.
- Highly advanced aerodynamics that are a key function of its body design reduce total fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and wind noise while adding to high speed stability and driver confidence.
- Adaptive LED headlights: Featuring Jaguar’s signature ‘J’ Blade daytime running lights, the F-Pace’s Adaptive LED headlights produce an intensity of light that is close to daylight, helping your eyes to distinguish objects more easily and reducing fatigue.
- Sports wheels: the F-Pace offers an extensive choice of lightweight aerodynamically efficient alloy wheels, and offers a wide range of wheels from18 inch to 22 inch – the perfect complement to F-Pace’s dynamic look.
- State of the art technology that ensures every journey is easier and more relaxed. These include:
- An optional Head-Up display with laser technology that projects information onto the windscreen optional activity key that helps you minimize the time spent looking down at the instrument cluster, reducing distraction and increasing safety.
- The advanced InControl infotainment system, which ensures you are always connected to the outside world.
The Jaguar F-Pace blends sophistication and bold sporting style to create the latest in contemporary design in the world of SUVs. For more information visit the RMA website or visit their showroom located at Delta Corner off Chiromo Road.
