If we are to create peace in our world, we must begin with our children.
Mahatma Gandhi

The golden guys at the SOYA event pledging peace.

Here’s a fun idea. Take a picture of yourself doing the peace sign.  Get your friends and family involved as well. Go crazy with the idea and send your picture to Umeclick for it to be put up.

INVITATION TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND CHANGE KENYA FROM ITS ROOTS – THE CHILDREN

HOW: Join Us

FOR: Rotary ‘UmeClick?’ (Click for Peace) Campaign

FROM: Rotary D9200 & New Generations PeaceClique Committee

On behalf of Rotary District9200, the Rotary New Generations ‘PeaceClique’ Committee invites you to join our Click for Peace initiative dubbed: ‘Umeclick?’

The ‘Umeclick?’ campaign seeks to collect one million signatures offline and 40 million clicks online from various schools, institutions and groups across the nation by January 1st 2013. These are to be presented to the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency, Hon. Mwai Kibaki, at the Click for Peace Rally to be held on February 9th 2013.

The one million signatures will represent the ‘VOICE OF THE KENYAN CHILD’ and will be used to lobby the government for the inclusion and/ or expansion of Peace Studies in the Kenyan schools education curriculum.

We have so far collected thousands of signatures and hope to enlist your added support and goodwill, in reaching and surpassing our target. We have so far collected thousands of signatures in the past two weeks and hope to enlist your added support and goodwill, in reaching and surpassing our 1M target.

Rotary clubs in District 9200 (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Eritrea) have for decades worked with children and youth through our Interact and Rotaract clubs, in promoting peace within their communities. Through the ‘Umeclick’ campaign we seek to promote Rotary values of world peace and understanding and RI’s 2012/13 theme of ‘Peace through Service’.

Peace is a word that is sometimes taken for granted and we know that during times of war, it is the children who suffer the most. Our campaign is therefore very timely, especially in light of the past and recent threats of insecurity in the country.

We at the New Generations PeaceClique Committee invite you to join with us in:

1. Promoting and publicizing the initiative through your respective networks

2. Supporting in collection of signatures. Sign in forms are available for collection from the secretariat.

3. Attendance to the 9th Feb 2013 peace rally. Join us in setting a New ‘Human Peace Sign’ Guinness world record.

4. Sign up at www.umeclick.com and #ClickforPeace.

5. Liking our FB, Twitter & Google+ pages and share with us your stories of peace.

6. Supporting financially or in kind, the various objectives of the activity.

Go on, Spread the word!

In an endeavour to ensure Enduring Peace; Tranquillity and Harmony, please share the ‘PeaceClique’ initiative TODAY with your family and friends . We are counting on fellow Kenyans participation, which will go a long way towards assuring and promoting a peaceful generation and future now and in days to come.

Go to www.umeclick.com and sign the petition. You can also follow the campaign on social media.
