If you have perfect vision, thank your good genes because it’s a struggle to wear glasses. For the most part, people who wear them are just like the rest who don’t. However, certain things are a reminder of the love-hate relationship most people have with their glasses. Here are some struggles only people who wear glasses know.

  1. Choosing The Right Glasses

Picking your frames is a long-term commitment since you’ll have them for several years. Therefore, it’s important to choose the right ones based on your style and facial features. The good news is that there is a wider variety of frames nowadays that are also affordable.

  1. Considering Other Alternatives

People who wear glasses are constantly considering other alternatives since wearing glasses can be tedious. Whether it’s something more permanent like laser corrective surgery or a temporary solution like contact lenses, anything feels better than having to wear glasses for the rest of your life.

How Safe Are Contact Lenses

  1. Foggy Glasses

There are many elements that make your them foggy including your favourite hot drink. Wearing a mask, which is currently a mandatory requirement, also fogs them up due to the warmth. Most of these things are unavoidable and all you can do is wait for them to clear up.

  1. It’s Expensive

From doctor visits to costly frames, it’s quite expensive to have an eye problem. It can cost anywhere from Ksh 3,000 to Ksh 50,000 to replace your frames. Despite this, optical problems are not covered by some insurance and you have to pay an extra cost to include it in your medical coverage.

  1. Cleaning Cloths And Cotton Pads Are A Necessity

It’s hard to avoid smudging the lenses after every few minutes no matter how careful you are. Additionally, dust and other particles will accumulate on your lens over time. Therefore, cleaning clothes are a must-have for people who wear glasses.

  1. Worsening Eyesight

Your eyesight gets worse over time despite wearing them since they only help to see clearer. Though there are more permanent solutions like laser surgery, some doctors advise against it if your eyesight isn’t too bad.

  1. Motion Sickness

Many people who wear glasses experience motion sickness when they change prescriptions especially if they’re prone to motion sickness. This is due to the sudden imbalance as your eyes try to adjust to the new vision. Dealing With Motion Sickness

8. Misplacing Your Glasses

There’s nothing worse than losing your glasses if you rely on them to see. Since replacing them takes a few days, you either have to use your old frames or adapt to seeing without them altogether. The most hilarious thing to other people but not to people who wear glasses is how you can misplace your glasses and look for them everywhere only to find that you are wearing them. Also needing your glasses but you can’t find them because you cannot see without them.

9. Glare

They tend to have glare when you encounter any kind of unnatural light such as camera flash and car headlights. This causes worse vision which can be risky if you’re driving. However, you can get an anti-reflective coat to prevent this problem.

10. You Can’t Wear Sunglasses

One of the most common causes of eye problems is excess light. Therefore, corrective glasses have a photochromic lens that protects the eyes from light. Unfortunately, regular sunglasses and contact lenses don’t come with them. If you have issues with light and you would like to wear contacts and not wear glasses you would still need to wear sunglasses. You can’t win. Grooming: Taking Proper Care Of Your Contact Lenses
