I learned the hard way that looks can be deceiving. Just because someone looks innocent doesn’t mean they don’t have a dark side. I tend to be attracted to cute, innocent-looking girls and every time I date one, it backfires on me. However, the things I saw in my last relationship made me take a vow of celibacy for at least a year. Like my exes, Lucy was a cute, shy girl. She didn’t talk much but spent a lot of time on her phone, especially on WhatsApp. Since she worked remotely, I didn’t have an issue with it.

To be honest, I didn’t expect Lucy and I to date. She was my type but there was something unusual about her. For instance, she wasn’t as shy as I thought. She would be quiet but as soon as another man talked to her, she wouldn’t stop talking and smiling. Nonetheless, my friends convinced me that she was a good girl so we started dating.

More skeletons started coming out when we got to know more about each other. Apart from her overly friendliness to other men, I realized she was into some wild things.

“What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever done?” A friend asked while playing Truth Or Dare at my place.

“I guy choked me until I passed out.”

The room went quiet as we looked at Lucy in disbelief. However, the wild revelations didn’t stop there. It was like every day I discovered something new about her. She always brought up sexual topics when we were together. Some were related to her while others were just random stories she saw on social media.

Once I discovered her other side, I stopped trusting her so much. The WhatsApp messages she was getting started to look suspicious. However, I wasn’t the type to invade someone’s privacy. I simply stole glances at her phone to make sure she wasn’t talking to other guys. I didn’t see any guy’s name but I saw WhatsApp groups that didn’t look work related.

“What are those WhatsApp groups for?” I asked her after curiosity got the best of me.

“They’re just gossip groups. You know I have to be up to date on current events.”

I accepted her explanation and didn’t bring up the topic again. For the most part, my relationship with Lucy was good. It didn’t have drama and we spent most of the time together so I knew she wasn’t cheating on me. When she wasn’t with me, she was at a work meeting or event.

“How are things at home?” My friend, Dan, asked.

“They’re great.”

“You’re so lucky.”

“Why?”

“You have a beautiful girlfriend who’s loyal, has a job and a freaky side. Who wouldn’t want such a girl?”

“I know. I really won the lottery with Lucy.”

“Make sure you don’t mess things up.”

“I can’t.”

Everything was perfect except Lucy’s sexual appetite. I struggled to accept that side of her. She had desires that I couldn’t fulfil even though I loved her and wanted to make her happy.

It didn’t seem to be a problem for her. Whenever I refused, she wouldn’t bring it up again. However, I agreed with some things that were a bit less wild just to make her happy.

We were doing fine until I saw a notification on Lucy’s phone that made me uneasy. I peeped at her WhatsApp chats while we were in bed and saw a message reading:

“Let’s meet tomorrow at the usual place.”

The WhatsApp group didn’t look like a work group. I didn’t see much but there was something suspicious about the group.

The following day, she left around noon claiming she had a work meeting. I accepted her explanation and waited for her in the evening.

When she came back, I kept looking at her phone to see the WhatsApp messages from the group. I didn’t see anything. In fact, the group wasn’t on her main list. I assumed it was on the Archive list.

So, I waited patiently until I saw it again. A few days later, she sent a text to the group. It was the same text.

“Let’s meet tomorrow at the usual place.”

I knew without a doubt there was something sinister happening in that group. The following day, I looked at her password then unlocked her phone when she went to shower.

I quickly opened her WhatsApp and went straight to the Archives section. Sure enough, the group was there. It was called “three is a vibe” and the name made sense once I figured out what the group was about.

It had three members – Lucy and two other guys. Nothing was suspicious so far. However, after scrolling up I saw why three was a vibe. It was a WhatsApp group for arranging threesomes and it seemed Lucy was always the one initiating it.

“Oh my goodness, this girl is really wild,” I whispered as I read the messages.

Their older messages were flirty and dirty. That must have been their taking stage.

I took comfort in knowing that the group was formed months before we started dating. However, it didn’t change the fact that Lucy was cheating on me. I didn’t know how to confront her so I waited for her to leave then I called Dan.

“You’re not going to believe this,” I said.

“What?”

“Lucy has a WhatsApp group for arranging threesomes.”

“What?”

Yeah. I just saw it. I even have screenshots but I don’t know what to do.”

“Are you okay with it?”

“Of course not.”

“Then end things with her. Don’t tell her it’s because of the WhatsApp group. Just tell her that it’s not working for you.”

I did exactly what Dan told me and the relationship ended without any issues. I later came to find out why Dan wanted the relationship to end on good terms. He ended up hitting on her and they got into a relationship.

To be honest, I’m more than happy for them. Lucy was definitely not my type of girl.
