Kenya is a beautiful country. If you are to consider our beautiful culture, wildlife, beaches, forests, agriculture, food, and historical wealth, we are undoubtedly one of the best tourist destinations. If you are looking to discover Kenya, then this post is for you.

In 2020, Kenya’s immigration department announced plans to have a fully automated visa (e-visa) issuance service by January 1st, 2021. Currently, The Government of Kenya utilises an electronic visa issuance system that is equivalent to a visa, but no stamp or label is placed in the passport.

The visitors coming to Kenya have both the option of applying for Single-entry and multiple-entry visas. Just as the terms suggest, Single-entry visas are issued for single entry to persons whose nationalities require a visa to enter Kenya either for business, tourism, medical or other reasons. A single-entry visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

On the other hand, multiple-entry visas are issued to persons who frequent Kenya and their nationalities require a visa to enter Kenya either for business, tourism, medical or other reasons. A multiple-entry visa is valid for 3-12months from the date of issue.

If you are abroad and want to get a Kenyan visa online you can do get it on the Kenya page on Byevisa’s website. You just enter your personal and passport details into the online form and select how fast you want to receive your travel pass. They will take care of the rest.

Here are the Kenyan visa application requirements.

Visa application requirements

If you are looking to travel to Kenya, here are the basic requirements that you will need for your application:

  1. A valid travel passport for at least six months on entry with one blank page.
  2. Proof of a return ticket.
  3. Hold proof of sufficient funds.
  4. Proof of onward/return flight.
  5. All the documents required for the next destination.

Attachments needed

In terms of the other documentation needed, you will be required to attach additional documents, depending on whether you are visiting for business, to visit your family, or to tour the country. The file formats that may be attached are PDF, JPG, or Microsoft word.

1. Family visits

For family visits, you will need to attach:

  • Invitation letters from your family.
  • Identity card / Passport / Alien card / Entry permit of the host.

2. Tourists

If you want to visit and tour the country but are not particularly visiting family, then there is also a provision for you. You will need to add the following documents to your attachments:

  • Travel itinerary (Details about places to visit if going as a tourist).
  • Hotel bookings.

3. Business visits

Lastly, we have business visits. This category applies to those visiting for official purposes, and mainly to visit a company. Here are the additional documents that you will need to add:

  • Invitation Letters from the company / Invitation letter for business visits.
  • Copies of registration of the company.
