Five Leftover Recipes That You Should Try Out

No matter how good of a cook you are, there are always times where you over-estimate the amount of food that’s enough for a meal. This happens when you’re cooking for guests because you end up using more ingredients than you usually do. Sometimes it becomes a little boring to keep on eating leftovers, and especially if there’s a lot of it left. The good thing is that there are recipes that allow you to create a completely different meal and enhance its taste.

Here are five leftover recipes that you should try out.

  1. Spaghetti with sausage

Measuring spaghetti can be super hard. It can come out either too little or too much. In instances where you over-estimate the amount of spaghetti and you end up with a lot of leftovers, here’s a perfectly simple and yet delicious recipe that you should try out.

Ingredients

A plate of leftover spaghetti

2 tbsp. cooking oil

4 sausages

1 big Onion

2 tablespoons of honey

Black pepper

Salt to taste

1 teaspoon Soy sauce

Procedure:

  1. Cut up your onions into small pieces and put them on a pan.
  2. Allow them to shallow fry.
  3. Cut up the sausages into small round pieces, and then toss them into the pan to fry with the onions.
  4. Once the onions are brown, add in the soy sauce, honey, salt and pepper to the food and stir together.
  5. You can add a little water and allow the mixture to simmer for a while.
  6. Heat the spaghetti in a microwave.
  7. Mix up the spaghetti with the sausage curry and fry together in the pan for two minutes.
  8. Serve hot.

  1. Beef/Chicken wrap

This particular recipe is an all-time favourite. It takes a very short time to prepare and the results are usually out of this world. If you have leftover chapati and beef/chicken in your fridge, then you should definitely try it out.

Ingredients

Two chapatis

Beef/chicken

Lettuce

1 Onion

2 tablespoons of vinegar

Mayonnaise

Tabasco sauce

Procedure

  1. Warm your beef or chicken in a microwave and then cut them up into medium-sized slices.
  2. Slice the onions and dip them in vinegar so that they can soften and to remove the bitter taste.
  3. Cut up your lettuce into a desirable size.
  4. Heat your chapatis in the microwave.
  5. Once done, mix the beef/chicken, onions and lettuce together.
  6. Add mayonnaise and tabasco sauce to this mixture.
  7. Put the mixture on the chapati and rollover.
  8. Serve hot.

3. Chips mayai

I don’t know if it’s just me, but the taste of old chips is not appealing at all. However, this isn’t to say that you should throw them away. You can always create a new recipe with the fries to enhance their taste. Chips mayai is one of the simple and quick ways of utilizing your leftover chips.

  1. A plate of chips
  2. Two eggs
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Black pepper
  5. Two tablespoons of oil

Procedure

  1. Beat two eggs, add salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Mix your leftover fries into the egg mixture
  3. Turn on the pan, add your oil.
  4. Once hot, pour in the eggs and fries.
  5. Allow them to shallow fry for a short period, and then serve hot.

4. Egg fried rice

If you happen to have leftover rice in the fridge, here is a tasty and yet easy recipe that you should try out.

Ingredients

2 plates of cooked leftover rice

2 Carrots

1 Bell pepper

Two eggs

1 tbsp. oil

Salt to taste

1 tbsp. Soy sauce

Procedure

  1. Heat some little oil in a saucepan.
  2. Add your carrots and bell peppers.
  3. Fry for about two minutes, and then add in the rice and mix it all together.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat your eggs.
  5. Add salt.
  6. Pour the egg into the rice, add soy sauce and stir all together for about three minutes.
  7. Serve hot.

5. Pizza bread

On occasions where you have leftover sausage, chicken or beef, you might want to try out pizza bread. It’s a simple recipe, extremely delicious and great for snacking on throughout the day.

Ingredients

Chicken/Beef/Sausage

Cheese

Onions

Green pepper

Bread

Procedure

  1. Cut up your chicken/beef/sausage. You can use more than one of these ingredients if they are available.
  2. Cut the onions into slices
  3. Dice the green pepper
  4. Cut up your slices of bread into four pieces for each slice
  5. Lay the ingredients on top of the bread
  6. Sprinkle some cheese on the bread pieces
  7. Put in the oven for about two minutes
  8. Serve hot.
