On Friday Uber Eats formally launched in Nairobi. The launch came after Uber made the announcement about Uber Eats coming to Nairobi earlier in the week.

Uber Eats is now available In Nairobi.Uber Eats has partnered up with numerous restaurants to deliver food to customers. The food ranges from traditional food such ad Ugali and Nyama Choma to exotic cuisine. The service is an extension of the local deals adding 100 restaurants including those that are not online as of now.

The Uber Eats application is separate from the Uber Application and is available in the App Store and Google Play Store. Orders can be made from 10 am- 10 pm every day. There is no minimum basket and each order will have a Kshs 150 delivery fee. As of now, the service is available in Kileleshwa, Kilimani, Westlands, Muthangari and Lavington. Customers will have access to over 100 restaurants which have already signed up.

As the year progresses, Uber Eats will be available to other areas in Nairobi. Customers can pay by Cash, through M-PESA, mobile money or even debit/credit cards. To pay through M-PESA directly within the Uber Eats application, customers can request a push notification from the rider. They can then enter their M-PESA pin. Afterwards, the customers receive a receipt via email. You can always review your payment option should you choose to change it. In case you have allergies or want to switch your order, you will be able to add special instructions to let restaurants know more about any modifications you may need through the application.

To register to become a bike courier for Uber Eats, you can simply log into the application and upload a photo of yourself, your driving license and your insurance. You will then be required to submit a certificate of good conduct and a vehicle logbook or a stamped letter from the bike owner. You will then undergo training and start working within 24 hours. Payments to the riders will be made on a weekly basis.

With this launch here in Nairobi, Kenya becomes the 3rd African country to host Uber Eats after Egypt and South Africa. Currently, the application is used in over 30 countries worldwide.
