Sex can be a fun and great activity. Many unpleasant things can happen during sex, such as the condom breaking or not achieving orgasm. In addition, it involves many moving parts. This increases the risk of injury—some more severe than others. Here are some injuries to watch out for and hopefully avoid during sex.

1. Vaginal tears

These are miniscule breaks and cuts that happen in the vaginal wall during sex. They happen when penetration happens without enough lubrication. They can also happen when toys are used incorrectly or if jewellery isn’t removed.

Make sure you are properly lubricated before attempting penetration. If you can’t produce any natural lubrication, plenty of water-based lubricants. You can also try slower penetration. If solutions don’t work and you’re still getting tears, you need to see your gynaecologist. Vaginal tears heal by themselves but if they keep bleeding, see a doctor. 2. Foreign objects getting stuck

This may sound impossible but it happens more often than you’d think. Tampons and condoms can get lost up there. Wait up to 15 minutes after you’ve had sex before trying to get them out. This is how long it takes the vagina to go back to normal size after arousal. Using your fingers to remove lost objects is easier and less painful when the vagina is no longer engorged. Two fingers should be enough. If you can’t remove them, see your doctor as soon as possible to avoid toxicity or infections.

The same also applies to the anus. Stick to toys specifically designed for anal play.

3. Back injury

It’s considered that the reverse cowgirl is one of the most dangerous sex positions. In this woman-on-top position, the partner lies on their back while the woman sits on top with her back to the partner’s face. It can cause severe lower back pain for the woman on top. To treat this, over-the-counter painkillers can help soothe the pain. To lower inflammation, apply an ice pack. When the inflammation subsides, use a heat pack to soothe the area. Sex: How To Master The Woman-On-Top Position

4. Penile fracture

This is most likely to occur during reverse cowgirl. This happens when an erect penis is bent forcefully. It can cause broken blood vessels. There can be a cracking or popping noise. The first thing to do is slowly lift yourself from your partner’s member. Apply ice, give painkillers, and see a doctor.

5. Muscle cramps

Sex is an exercise. It requires the movement of various muscles. Cramps occur if your muscles aren’t properly warmed up and stretched. They’re most likely to occur in the hamstrings, calves, or upper thighs. When the cramp occurs, try slowly walking it off. You can also lie on your back or sit upright and massage the affected area. Stretches can also help. If the pain persists, try painkillers. Change positions and use a slower tempo to avoid further cramps. Try doing daily stretches to avoid the likelihood of muscle cramps.

6. Bruising

Sex can easily lead to bruising if force is used. Grabbing, spanking, and tying each other can easily lead to bruising. In addition, being bent over a hard surface can cause bruising around the waist. Apply ointment after sex. If skin breaks, gently clean the area with warm water and soap, and apply disinfectant. Having sex on the floor over a carpet can cause burns on the knees and palms. Rug burn can become itchy and red. Disinfect it and cover it with antibacterial cream to reduce the risk of infection.

7. Allergies

The materials of sex toys or condoms can cause an allergic reaction. Latex condoms can cause an allergic reaction which manifests as sneezing, scratchy throat, itching, or hives. It’s only in sporadic cases that an allergic reaction results in anaphylaxis. To know if you have a latex allergy, watch how your body reacts to latex gloves or balloons. Use non-latex condoms if you have an allergy. Some sex toys can be made with toxic materials. To avoid issues, buy toys made of ABS plastic, stainless steel, glass, and medical-grade silicone.
