You have probably rocked the hot gothic style at some point, and then the whole trend went underground. This style is coming back, and it is even better this time.

The Gothic Style for Women

Gothic fashion is a style that is marked by dark, enigmatic, archaic, consistent, and often gender-less features. The central theme is black, with little of any other colour. Sometimes, one may combine the black theme with white, red, or purple to achieve their aesthetic desires.

The gothic style takes a lot of inspiration from the 18th century. This mental shift occurs because the pieces reflect the old times. The pieces are made of leather, long coats, old hairstyles, belts, and jewellery with gothic symbols.

A woman’s wardrobe will have

  • Black tops
  • Leather pants
  • Leather skirts
  • Black dresses
  • Coats
  • Hats
  • Gloomy make-up: pale face and dark hair;
  • Silver jewelry carries gothic symbols, just like those of men.

Your wardrobe probably has a thing or two from the above list from your previous trials with this style. Guess what! The time to rock these outfits is here.

Gothic is changing

Lately, the gothic style has a new face, and it is not necessarily all black as has been the case.

For a long time, the gothic style has maintained an all-black or heavy usage of black in dressing. However, current gothic has changed the face of gothic by having new ways of bringing out the gothic style without necessarily being all-back.

Jones, a 22-year-old gen Z gothic, sheds light on this shift.

“It doesn’t have to be super extravagant,” she shares. “You can wear a black T-shirt and jeans and still be goth.”

Maddox, too, a gothic enthusiast, shows a different type of gothic by using colourful hair, make-up, and accessories.

“I consider myself a Bubble Goth, With Bubble Goth, you take a light aesthetic and a dark aesthetic and kind of mush them together.”

Here is how gothic fashion for women looks like currently

1. Oversized Tees and black leggings

One face that Gothic style has taken up is wearing oversized tees and black leggings. These look casual, but as long as one maintains a black theme, they are gothic. The look is complete when one puts on black boots and accessorizes with dark themed dark glasses. Fashion: How To Wear Leggings Absolutely Everywhere

2. Black dresses

Your little dark dresses come in handy when you want to go for a gothic look. The dress should complement your physical features through features such as the V-shape for an aesthetic collar appearance.

To this dress, one adds gothic-themed jewellery, leather boots, and a handbag with gothic designs to seal the look. Fashion: Different Ways You Can Glam Up Your Little Black Dress

3. Military buttoned coats

Apart from the dark dresses, one may decide to go gothic with a buttoned military coat. They come in different sizes and designs, but they must be black to be gothic.

One wears this coat on top of a dress or pants to achieve the black gothic theme, which means the clothes worn underneath this coat would need to have a considerable percentage of black.

The gothic look is complete when one wears black shoes, most probably boots.

4. Corsets

Another way women are rocking the gothic fashion style is through corsets. One gets a black leather corset and accessorizes their dresses or tops. 5 Features To Look Out For When Buying Waist Training Corsets

5. Make-up is at the heart of the hot gothic style

Gothic make-up is very specific. Every other attempt to achieve this look goes in vain if the make up is not done right. Gothic make aims to achieve a dark theme through various tips. A major tip is going for a smokey eye which one achieves by using a wintery mix of black, blues, and silver hues, and the use of dark shades of lipstick.

Hot Gothic style has evolved into simple styles that anyone can rock. Lately, the style involves using less black but maintaining the use of accessories that are dominantly gothic. You can go for a hot gothic style without having to look extra like people did in the past.
