When one wants to purchase clothes, shoes, or get a new look through a hairdo or nails, somebody usually has specifications of what they actually want. Sometimes, one gets exactly what they asked for, but some other times they get something totally different from what they wanted, leading to regrets.
Through the “What I wanted vs what I got” challenge across different social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, people have posted their experiences and some are hilarious while others leave one pitying these people.
A Twitter user by the name @tu_shillah was going for a sophisticated look by ordering a white dress. Her tailor on the other hand had other thoughts.
A Twitter user by the name @apriljo_xox, wanted some unique nail polish in the shade of purple. Her nail tech may not have understood the assignment well, because she instead got a mix of white and purple. As you can see, the colour is not the only issue, the shape is also very different from what she was going for.
Another one, by name Hart, got totally opposite of the nail design and quality she was going for. Her specific details included properly polished art on the nails and the final product being of high quality. In the end, she got something she had not gone for. This must have been disappointing.
On Twitter, a user by name of Muhammad posted photos of the furniture he got and the one he wanted. Though the design looks similar, the issue is the colour. We all know how a slight alteration of colour may ruin one’s house aesthetics.
Nail technicians can sometimes give you a look that is different from what you wanted. A Twitter user by name, @PrimpnPropa opted for a new shape and as you can see below, her nail tech gave her a different look from the one she was going for.
When you see a dress online and think that it will bring out the best of your curves, the next step might be to make an order. The only thing that could go wrong, is your tailor or dealer delivering the totally wrong dress where they miss both the colour and the design.
When you need to grab a bite but walking to the restaurant or fast food place might seem like it might take an eternity. This is when you decide to make an order of your favourite meals, and then the seller decides that you will not get what you ordered, but instead, you only get what they made.
A Twitter user by the name @lazyc… could not hide her disappointment when the baker she had booked to make her mother’s 50th birthday failed to deliver. This begs the question of when some entrepreneurs will normalize saying when they cannot deliver on the specific quality of an order.
On Facebook too, a user went ahead to give details on the car cake they had ordered versus what he received. Bartley had ordered a cake made in the shape of Nissan Skyline GTR preferably in a red colour. The baker instead, made a totally different car cake as could be seen from the Facebook post.
Florists were not left out of this challenge, as they could deliver a totally different package from what a customer had ordered. In the tweet, @kelliegerardi had ordered a banquette that constituted of all white flowers in the design of a head, and two sets of eyes. What this Twitter user got was not anywhere near the design she had specified she wanted.
Supporting a friend’s business was a good idea for @macho, a Twitter user until the product he had ordered was delivered. There is so much doubt if this Twitter user will ever support their friends after what they got.
Another person that can mess you up really badly, is your tailor. @pengman, a Twitter user posted a dress design his friend had ordered versus what she got as you can see below. First of all, the two products looked totally different yet they are supposed to look alike. Secondly, the friend was to wear it during her birthday, hopefully, she had a plan B.
Another Twitter user by the name @Rebranded217 had ordered shoes. What was delivered was very different from what she had ordered and he had no energy to complain or vent.
If you have a tailor and he or she gets your designs and sizes well, then you need to stick to them. Tailors out here are surprising clients every day. Like in the case of this post here. The design can only be excellent when the tailor considers the measurements and body type accurately.
Another tailor surprised their client in this post. As you can see, the colour mix is accurate but the size and design came off differently. I doubt if the woman wore these clothes and went out. It might have involved taking the clothes back for a remake.
When you order a trouser online, something might go wrong in the whole process. Leading to the trousers delivered being too long for you. So that if you wore them, you may look like a diver.
Online delivery may ruin a birthday that could have otherwise been a good one. An order of happy Elmo, may end up leading to the delivery of a tired Elmo whose nose is too long for the face, like in this instance here.
On the what I want Vs what I got challenge, dresses seem to top the list. This other case involved a delivery where the online shop only focused on one detail of the dress, the front slit. The rest of the design was off and nothing near what was ordered.
While making orders online, or going for services such as hairdressing or nails, one may never get what one wanted. It is very disappointing when one gets the opposite of what they had earlier on wanted.
While going for services such as hair and nails, communicate clearly on what you want to the service provider and speak up when you see things taking a different direction. For some things, it might be better to go to a tailor or a service provider whose shop you can visit or who has been highly recommended. Don’t just look at the photos people post online. Some vendors steal pictures of finished goods from other people and post them as theirs.
