Realme a fast-growing smartphone brand has taken the market by storm after a back to back release of trendsetting devices. Such include the Realme C3, Realme C11, Realme 6 and the Realme smart band.
Yet barely a month later the sub-brand of Oppo has released a new phone with a really powerful battery. The realme C15 has a 6000mAh battery, with 18W super quick charge. Realme C15 becomes the first smartphone to hit the Kenyan market in line with young people habits and wants.
The best way to reach a conclusion is by looking at the hailed features of the Realme C15 against the current market trends, wants and needs.
- Battery capacity
Up until recently, we were used to the 3000mAh phone batteries which could last a day for light users and up to 8 hours or less for heavy users. To counter this, many of us invested in power banks, which in itself was a hassle given you needed to charge it for almost a day or leave it charging overnight. We have not even mentioned the fact that a power bank drains faster and charges your phone slower than it takes to charge the power bank itself.
So Realme solved this by increasing the capacity of the battery. With the 6000mAh battery capacity of the Realme C15, you have up to 2 months/ 57 days of power if the phone is on standby and 46 hours if the phone is on continuous calls.
In an era of YouTube videos, Tiktoks, live streaming and surfing on the go the major necessity besides, the phones screen size/display, interface and camera/video quality, becomes power.
Realme C15 caters for the Youtuber or a user who enjoys watching YouTube videos by guaranteeing continuous 28 hours of watch time – without power running out – and 27 hours of Google Maps for the avid traveller. Now, if that doesn’t address your battery woes the next point will.
2. Fast charging
It is well to have a phone that can stay powered for days. However, it is even more important to determine how fast the phone can get fully charged. But this is where it gets tricky.
Many of the phones or chargers that have claimed to be fast charging have often disappointed giving you the usual 2 hours or even more. So let’s take a closer look at the Realme C15 to see if it checks out. But before this, we should understand what is fast charging and especially how the quick charge technology applied in the Realme C15 works.
What is Fast Charging?
For a phone to be fast charging it either has to have a higher amperage (amount of current flowing to the device) or the voltage ( the strength of the current) must be higher. Multiplying the amperage (amps) and voltage (V) gives you wattage (W) which is the total measure of power.
Considering there are multiple devices, say, earphones, headphones, smartwatches and different battery capacities, each device is set to handle a certain capacity.
The standard 3.0 USB ports output at a level of 5V/2.4A for the average smartphones while smaller devices can handle a level of 5V/1A. Therefore, for fast charging the voltage has to be up to 5V, 9V, 12V or beyond. Or, the amperage has to be 3A and above.
Bear in mind that fast charging is also dependent on the charging circuit, adapter and cable. In other words, for fast charging to be effective your charging circuit needs to be designed in a way it can deliver as much power as the phone can take. Also, aside from the charging circuit being adapted to fast charging standards, the cable and adapter need to be enabled for the same.
What is Quick charge and how does it work?
Realme C15 features 18W Quick Charge which means that the phone can charge within the shortest time possible as compared to the average phone.
It takes up to 30 minutes to charge 1500mAh of the 6000mah battery which is about 25% (that is somebody’s full charge right there) and it takes 3 hours to charge it fully.
Even though you can maintain several hours of the phone running with the 25% charge, it is advisable to charge your phone fully for a longer battery shelf life. After all, having a fully charged 6000mAh battery at your convenience will not only guarantee more freedom of surfing, taking pictures and videos, but it will also give you the confidence of knowing you can operate the phone anytime without worrying about it running out of charge.
Again, considering the phone houses a massive 6000mAh it is relatively speedy for it to charge fully in 2 hours. Don’t forget that at 75% you have a power capacity of more than 2 phones and in some cases 3, at your disposal.
Quick Charge 3.0 boosts voltage although the peak power is 18W. When it comes to compatibility for fast charging, quick charge technology is the most common fast-charging standard hence as long as the cable and adapter are enabled, even if they’re older models they will still offer fast charging.
3. Camera
Realme C15 comes with an AI quad-camera which will influence the amount of charge you use when taking pictures or videos. Not only does this phone’s battery capacity inspire you to document any moment without worrying about it shutting down but equally you don’t have to worry about running out of charge mid your zoom meetings or webinars. The realme C12 has an 8MP ultrawide camera on the back and swapped the selfie snapper with a higher-res 8MP unit. Here are the camera specifications
Rear camera: Wide (main): 13 MP, f/2.2, (wide), PDAF; Ultra wide-angle: 8 MP, f/2.3, 119-degree (ultrawide); 2 MP B/W, f/2.4; 2 MP, f/2.4; LED flash, HDR, panorama.
Front camera: 8 MP, f/2.0, (wide); HDR, panorama.

4. Gaming
Realme C15 is packed with an Helio G35 gaming processor which ensures longer gameplay and sustained performance even for games with demanding action. For gamers this is not only a plus but the high performance of this gaming processor and the 6000mAh battery guarantee a seamless experience with no worry of phone lagging, heating up, restarting or shutting down.
5. Pricing
With the advancement of technology and the rapid way, smartphones are being upgraded most people are looking for devices that carry flagship features but in affordable prices. If you look at flagship phones or other smartphones with features offered in the Realme C15 the price point goes above Ksh20,000.
