Nowadays everybody wants a camera with a good phone or rather a phone with a good camera. We want to take great selfies and popping videos that we can share on our socials and impress our friends. Well if that is what you are looking for then the OPPO Reno 3 got you covered.

At a glance, this is what the OPPO Reno 3 offers in terms of the cameras.

The OPPO Reno 2 comes equipped with a 48MP, 20x Digital Zoom Camera; a first-of its kind 44MP Front Camera with Ultra Night Selfie Mode and Ultra Steady Video 2.0; for crisp and clear pictures in the day and even during the night. For refined selfie images, the 44MP front camera ensures the detailed textures of your hair, skin, and even eyelashes are captured in ultra-high resolution.

The OPPO Reno 3 has a glossy premium design at the back. it is a lightweight phone weighing only 170 gms.

The display and processor

The OPPO Reno 3 comes with an AMOLED 6.4-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 98.9 cm2 display panel. Its 1080 x 2400 pixels resolutions deliver a pixel density of 411. It has a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio which means one can comfortably stream videos of up to 1080p.

Powered by the MediaTek Helio P90 processor the OPPO Reno 3 has a RAM of 8GB and internal storage of 128GB.  This allows you to have a seamless experience as you stream videos, or check social media with no lagging.

The Entertainment Experience

The storage on the Reno 3 comes with a 2.1 ultra-fast infrastructure that can be expanded. The OPPO Reno 3 OS is Android 10 with OPPO’s ColorOS 7. If you love to use your phone as an entertainment device then you will enjoy the Oppo Reno 3’s Hi-Res Audio & Dolby Atmos which delivers great audio while playing music. The earphones are really good which helps you have a great experience when you are listening to music, watching movies or games.

I loved streaming videos because the colours were really sharp and vivid so watching something in full mode was a very good experience. It did not have any heating issues while watching movies.

Fingerprint scanner

In terms of the security, the OPPO Reno 3 has a fingerprint scanner which has optimized for utmost security and ultra-fast unlocking of your device.

3rd Party Apps

One of the great thing about the OPPO Reno3 is that it does not have many third-party apps. I hate having too many apps preinstalled because I don’t like having too many apps. Third-party apps also sometimes end up having an issue uninstalling which is so annoying. This is something that some other phone brands should look into.

The Phone experience

The phone has big app icons and well laid out menus. The OPPO Reno 3 has smart services offered like smart driving, riding mode and others.  I don’t use gesture-based navigation but I have heard people say it is very good. It has digital well being and parental controls so that you can limit what your kids can watch or do. The apps launch quite fast and the device also unlocks very fast.

Screenshots

There are two different gestures for screenshots. One is a 3 finger swipe down to take a full screenshot while the other is a 3 finger touch and hold which takes either a partial or long screenshot. I have to say that screenshot is probably the one thing I struggled with on this phone because I don’t really use swipes to do things on the phone and I really like having a screenshot icon on the menu so that I just click and get the screenshot.

The Reno 3 has also a dark theme which I liked.  It also has an eye care mode that warms the screen colours to help protect your eyes from the strain of looking at the screen too long is also great.

The phone has focus mode which allows you to cut out phone interruptions so that you can stay focused on your tasks. This allows you to concentrate on the work at hand.

Cameras

The Oppo Reno 3 selfies were good with the front camera. The secondary camera did a good job in providing depth to the images.

I tried some of the beauty modes. I liked the one that reduced my dark marks but the one what was supposed to make my face slimmer just made my face look longer. I loved the fact that it had various options  – to smoothen your face, give you a thinner face, bigger eyes, smaller nose, a smaller chin or smaller face, do a touch-up or do 3D. I experimented with all of them. Some of the effects can be seen here.

The night mode does a good job with low light photography with pictures well lit up.

Back camera. The photos are sharp, crisp and vibrant and one can see details in the images.

Check out this post to see how you can get the best shots – Lights, Camera, Action! Here Are A Few Tips On Now To Get Great Photos With Your OPPO Reno 3

Battery

OPPO’s Reno 3 has a non-removable Li-Po 4025 mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charge. It goes from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes and to 100% in 73 minutes. This fast charge was a selling point for me. I was mostly using the phone to watch movies and the battery lasted well. I would use it for at least two days without having to charge it even though I am a very heavy social media user and I would also watch some movies with it.

I also like how it has many options to prolong battery life (I love battery saving options).  The great thing is that if you notice battery power is down while watching your movie or playing your game all you need to do is take a break for an hour, plug it to charge and your battery will be almost at 100%. The other thing I have come to appreciate about the OPPO phones is that they do not lose battery very fast. With some phones, you can go from 15% to dead battery in a very short time. This OPPO and the OPPO A92  which I am currently using keep charge well. I have really pushed the phones for a long time while being reminded that I need to charge the phone.

The phone uses a USB Type C charger which by now should be a standard charger because not only is the charger reversible but it is easier to plug in plus they are able to carry significantly more power.

Verdict

It is a great all-round device, very efficient and with a great camera experience.  If you like taking photos and you want a phone with which you can enjoy the movie/gaming experience then this is a good phone to get.
