Trying to decorate a small space can feel like a chore instead of fun. It may seem like an impossible task to fit in as much personality to a tiny room without overcrowding it. However, you don’t have to compromise your style. Whether you live in a studio apartment or are curious about how to decorate your smaller rooms like the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, here are some useful tips.

  1. Choose The Right Trend

Wherever you draw our inspiration, make sure it’s suitable for a small space. Certain designs might not work for tight spaces without looking too chaotic. Maintain the simplicity of your room by choosing simple designs. However, if you want to express your creativity, you can designate a feature wall for colourful artwork.

  1. Focus On Lighting

Good lighting makes a big difference in the way your room looks. Due to limited natural light, a small space can look darker making it feel dull and gloomy. Make up for this by adding light fixtures in the room. Go for eye-catching fixtures and lamps to add to the décor.

  1. Look For Folding Furniture

Folding furniture help on saving space without compromising on comfort or personal taste. You can invest in desks that fold into the wall, folding chairs and beds. Additionally, there are great designs that cater to this need.

  1. Declutter Your Home

Clutter is the enemy of any small spaces. Ensure that you get rid of unnecessary things that might take up space. Decluttering your space creates space for movement and makes the room look bigger. Focus mainly of visible areas like floors, sitting areas and countertops. How To Declutter Your Home

  1. Keep It Light

As much as you’d want to add your personal touch, don’t overdo it. Less is more when it comes to a small space. Rather, invest in a few high impact pieces that will create a homely ambience without being overwhelming.

  1. Try Bold Colours

A simple way of decorating a small space is by using bold colours. Colours add oomph to a rather dull room. Try repainting the walls to something bright. However, for walls, try and stick to whites and neutrals as they make the room look brighter. You can use bright coloured furniture, drapes or pillows to add some colour to your room. Lifestyle: Using Fabric To Bring Colour To Your Home

  1. Use Vertical Space

If you don’t know where to place your favourite décor, use walls to affix things like shelves which you could place things like books and art. Place the shelves a bit higher to create an illusion of extra height. Make sure the fixtures are firmly mounted to avoid falling.

  1. Create Art From Everyday Items

Some everyday items can double up as décor. For instance, you can display your book, magazine or shoe collection as décor. Make sure they’re in mint condition to create an aesthetic look. in the kitchen, you can display your pantry in a creative way. Home Decor Tips To Spruce Up Your Home

  1. Be Picky With Your Furniture

Only have furniture that is completely necessary. Additionally, avoid bulky furniture. Choose furniture that is visually lightweight and won’t take up too much space. Make sure that the legs are showing to create a sense of space.

  1. Take Advantage Of Mirrors

Whether it’s a full-length mirror or wall mirror, this is the perfect addition to any room. They reflect light in your small space making it look bigger. Additionally, it serves as both a decorative and a utility purpose.
