We all deserve a homemade treat once in a while but shy away from them since they’re time consuming and expensive. However, desserts don’t have to be expensive or complicated. Whether you’re looking for a quick sugar fix or preparing a two-course meal, here are some easy dessert recipes that require 3 ingredients or less.

  1. Chocolate Mug Cake

Who said you can’t have cake without an oven? If you’re like me and you get cake cravings every so often, then you need this recipe in your life. Take an egg, flour and cocoa powder mixture. Put it in a mug and cook for minutes in a microwave. Garnish with chocolate shavings.

2. Coffee Ice pops

These beautiful and refreshing desserts are a must-have. They make a great dessert on warm nights or hot days. In addition, they give you that caffeine kick keeping you energized. This recipe needs 2 cups of strong coffee, heavy cream and sugar to taste. Sweeten the heavy cream then pour into a mold cup to about a ¼ inch. Freeze the mold. Add the coffee, more cream and sugar then fill up the cup with the mixture. Cover the top with a foil and insert a popsicle stick. To unmold, dip the cup in hot water for about 15-30 seconds.

3. Peanut Butter Cookies

If you’re tired of eating plain old peanut butter, why not make cookies with it. You will only need flour, sugar and peanut butter (preferably smooth). Make cookie dough by mixing the ingredients then divide it into small balls and put in the oven. Bake for 20 minutes.

Who doesn’t love Oreos? Now, imagine a whole dessert made of Oreos. I’m definitely up for that. You’ll need chopped white chocolate and Oreo cookies. Chop the cookies into small pieces. Don’t crush them into crumbs. Heat the white chocolate in the microwave until it’s melted. Stir every 30 seconds to avoid overheating. Add the cookies into the melted chocolate then spread the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with aluminium foil. Refrigerate for 20 minutes then break into irregular pieces. Take a picture to show off your masterpiece.

5 Fried plantains

You don’t have to throw out your overripe plantains when you can make a sweet dessert with them. For this recipe, you will need ripe plantains, oil and a hungry tummy. Make sure the plantains are the right amount of ripe. Peel and slice them. Put enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan but not to drown the plantains. When the oil is hot enough, add plantains and cook for 1 minute on each side. Remove and dry the oil. Enjoy your African dessert. Health: The Nutritional Benefits Of Plantains
