One of the most annoying things when it comes to handling hair is dealing with dandruff. For some of us, it is a nightmare. Dandruff in most cases is caused by a dry scalp.

However, in some cases, it is a symptom of a scalp or hair condition such as eczema, or psoriasis. If so, you should visit your health practitioner for help. But for the normal annoying dandruff, here are a few easy home remedies to prevent your hair from looking like it has white flour sprinkled on it.

Aspirin

A really weird remedy I must admit. However, aspirin contains an ingredient called salicylic acid. This is an ingredient commonly used in many dandruff medicated shampoos. Simply crush the aspirin into a fine powder. Add the powder into your shampoo and proceed to wash your hair. You should leave the mixture on your head for a couple of minutes. Ensure you give your hair a proper rinse afterwards.

Tea Tree Oil

For some reason, I have always loved tea tree oil. It works great as a moisturizer. Dealing with dandruff is an added bonus on my part. A study showed that tea tree oil has antifungal properties which are useful in the treatment of dandruff. Apply some directly on your scalp and let it soak in. Alternatively, you can add it to your shampoo.

Baking Soda and Lemon

Take some baking soda and sprinkle some lemon onto it. Once you mix those ingredients in a bowl, apply all over your scalp. Wait for about 5 minutes before you wash it off. If possible, do this every other day as you shower.

Baking powder works by reducing the overactive fungi that are responsible for dandruff.

Banana and Apple Cider Vinegar

Chop up some bananas in a bowl. In a separate bowl mix some water and apple cider vinegar. Do not use the concentrated version of the apple cider vinegar. It will dry out your hair. Once you have added ample water to the vinegar, pour it into the bowl of bananas. Mix it all up and apply the mixture to your hair. Leave it in for about 30 minutes then rinse it out. Six Home Made Rinses That Are Great For Natural Hair

The bananas are a great source of vitamin B, the nutrient that improves circulation and keeps your skin healthy. Apple cider vinegar is a known fungicide and germ killer, and it helps treat dandruff.

Egg yolk or Egg oil

Crack an egg into a bowl then spread the yolk into your hair. Cover your head with a satin headscarf or plastic paper bag for about an hour. Rinse it off after you are done. As for the egg oil, apply a reasonable amount of it on your scalp before you got to bed then cover your head. Rinse it off in the morning.

Eggs contain cholesterol and omega – 3 fatty acids which can bring the lustre and shine to hair. This keeps your hair hydrated thus keeping off dandruff or minimizing it.
