In 2016, the most awarded British rapper Tiny Tempa gave an electrifying performance for his Kenyan fans, courtesy of Jameson Connects. This year, the event goes a notch higher with the double act of critically acclaimed international acts; Ty dollar $ign and Nasty C.
“I’m so excited to finally be here with my Kenyan fans. Tomorrow’s show will have them on their feet all night!” Said Ty Dolla $ign at a press announcement at Fairmont, The Norfolk.
Alongside Nasty C and Ty Dollar $ign, the fourth edition of the Jameson experience will also feature local heavyweights: Khaligraph Jones, The Kansol, Kagwe Mungai and DJs Jack, Rooster, Burn, Bash, Kace, Mellow and DJ Butch Norman. For the lovers of good music, the Jameson Connects Experience, is a holds no barred event that is sure to guarantee you an overdose of your favourite jams.
The Jameson Connects Kenya, which started out as Jameson Live; a night of musical performances by various artists have since morphed into a wholesome experience. Starting out early (3 pm), it now provides an opportunity to enjoy the best of music, free haircuts from celebrity barbers, see incredible sneaker displays, watch live sports (English Premier League and Dubai 7’s) and for those with a competitive bone-participate in foosball competitions to win amazing prizes.
The event is seen as a sign of hope and a rubber stamp of approval for the local music scene, a statement reiterated by celebrated rapper, Nasty C who said “Kenya feels like home and this experience is allowing us to make real connections and empower the music industry as a whole. Keeping Africa on the charts is number one on my list.”
Nasty C, the event’s second headliner is a South African rapper, songwriter, and producer. The youngest recipient of the Best Freshman Award at the 2015 South African Hip Hop Awards and a 2017 BET Awards nominee. His most notable songs include “Juice Back” (featuring Cassper Nyovest and Davido), “Hell Naw” and “Allow” (featuring French Montana).
The event’s headliner, Ty Dollar $ign- whose most recent album Beach House III peaked at number 11 on the billboard 200, with hits such as “Love U Better” ( featuring Lil Wayne and The-Dream) and “So Am I” (featuring Damian Marley and Skrillex) has been on the rise on the Hip-hop scene since his solo debut song ” All Star” in 2011.His notable singles include “Blase”, “Or Nah” and “Paranoid”. In addition, he is a songwriter and producer who has worked with artists such as Kanye West, B.O.B, YG, Nicky Minage, DJ Khaled, Wiz Khalifa among other A-listers.
In line with its agenda to bring people together for an authentic experience, Jameson Connects held an ‘Artist Meet and Greet’ event at Fairmont, The Norfolk yesterday. “We wanted to provide an opportunity for the artists to meet, take a few photos with some of the fans and influencers who might not get the chance to do so during tomorrows show,” said Yvonne Akinyi, Jameson Kenya brand manager. That same spirit of inclusivity was displayed, in Jameson Connects pre-parties held in Mombasa and Eldoret in which fans got to share experiences similar to those that will be had in today’s event. The Jameson Connects experience will be held at Uhuru Gardens, Langata on 2nd December 2017, from 3 pm.
