Tecno has officially launched the Camon C9 smartphone in Kenya. The Camon C9 is a successor to the previously launched Camon C8 and C5 that were also recently introduced into the Kenyan market, with the Boom J8, still fresh on the market with about only three months into the market.
The launch of the Camon C9 saw hundreds of people rushing into the store to either buy the phone or simply to get a glimpse of the device and it’s safe to say that none of them was disappointed. The Camon C9 is a sleek, innovative and beautifully crafted camera phone that is also now considered as the best affordable camera device yet. Retailing at only Kshs 17,999, the Tecno Camon C9 is now available in all Tecno branded shops countrywide. Here are a few notable features of the sleek gadget that stood out for me:
- Camera-centric
The Tecno Camon C9 officially takes the title of the ultimate selfie beast hands down! The front camera has an impressive 13MP camera. Now let’s just let that soak in for a bit. How many times have you wanted to take the perfect selfie but you just couldn’t since your front camera just wasn’t of good quality? Despite the growing popularity of mobile photography, very few phones can actually produce sharp and crisp quality images, but this isn’t the case for the Camon C9.
With the 13MP front and back camera, with the front camera equipped with a front natural flashlight, the camera-focused phone becomes the ultimate device designed to exclusively capture all those cherished moments in the perfect way.
- Wide-angle for the perfect selfie
The Camon C9 comes mounted with 83 degrees wide-angle front camera giving a wider angle making sure that everyone fits into the picture. Instead of having to weirdly crop out someone out of a photo just because their face was half-taken in the shot, you can now take photos where no one gets cropped out.
The device also comes with a 120 degree panoramic selfie function, matched with the 83 degrees wide-angle, that makes it even easier when you want to take a multi-selfie.

Thanks to the real-time beauty mode, selfie beauty effect is visible in real time. The gallery of the c9 also recommends 8 kinds of natural beauty makeup mode giving the user the ability to define their own beauty reviews in the way they see fit. The gallery also presets manual adjuster which is set to adjust: eyebrows, eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, lip gloss, foundation, blush and other local beauty details.
- Night-time lighting
Taking a good picture at night in an area where there is no light is almost next to impossible and even when a good source of light is located, it is still very hard to capture amazing photos at night.
In addition to the unique front flash, the Camon C9 has Finland Visidon Algorithm brightness that produces 50% brighter images than average. The Visidon algorithm noise reduction clears up to 75% of the ‘noise’ in the dark giving you that crisp night-time image.
The C9 rear camera is also equipped with enhanced double flashlight. This allows brightness of up to 3 meters making night shoot effects more realistic and natural.
- Better focus
The Camon C9 has a 0.1 second high speed focus camera armed with an integrated flash focus solution allowing you to take clear photos of objects moving at very high speeds e.g. sports cars.
- The Tecno T-Band
