Fashion for a cause: Wandia Lukoye apparel launch

The House of Lukoye launched its Wandia Lukoye apparel on the 30th of April 2016 at the prestigious Amber hotel located along Ngong road.

Wandia Lukoye’s House of Lukoye apparel is an authentic brand of ‘Made in Kenya’ classics that offer a fresh taste to Kenyan fashion for the everyday woman. The collection is made to celebrate the elegance of our youth with variations from brightly colored bold prints to subtle simple silhouettes, with a touch of an exquisite detail to its finish. The designs also boast of color from the African palette to muted soft colors and prints.

The line includes four categories:

  1. Ki/Kazi Official wear: These are clothes that are designed for the everyday woman who wants to dress to impress especially at the office. The designs ranging from skirts, trousers, dresses and blouses are especially made to be elegant, comfortable and stylish all at the same time.
  1. La/Waridi Special occasion wear: For those special events like weddings, ruracios, networking events etc, La/Waridi offers a collection that makes you stand out. From the elegance of the designs, one is sure to make a clear statement of elegance and complexity.
  1. Pori African inspired wear is inspired by the diversity and richness of African culture and heritage. The clothes from this line have clear cut African print designs that proudly represent our ethnicity. They can easily be worn to special functions or even to church.
  1. Za/Barizi smart casual wear: For days when you just want to chill with your friends, but still want to do it in style and comfort, then this line is just for you. With very stylish designs that flaunt a wide variety of color, clothes from Za/Barizi are just what you need.

The event also featured Joicee Gichangi, a Kenyan label by an upcoming designer. Joicee Gichangi is an alumna of Mcensal School of Fashion Design and her designs are inspired by the intricate details of Victorian century fashion; with rich bold colors, detailed prints and classic shapes.

Her line is infused with a touch of style, high sophistication and comfort to complete her collection that is simply a must have in the woman’s wardrobe.

Her collection; Comfy Casual, is characterized by classy, stylish yet simple pieces that can be dressed and styled to suit any occasion for the everyday woman no matter her shape or size.

The event saw quite the number of guests showing up to not only enjoy the collection but also stand in support of Love INC; which stands for Love In the Name of Christ, a movement of Christian churches that work together to show God’s love to the poor and needy. All the proceeds from the event were going to the support of Love INC. Through the Love INC foundation, individuals from different churches can come together and coordinate to help people in need, providing people in need with basic needs such as food and clothing. One of the key missions of Love INC is not just to offer handouts but to long-term responses such as life-skills and transitional housing programs.
