KCB Bank launches entrepreneurship series in Kenya

Kenya has very many young entrepreneurs who are innovative but lack support. There has been a challenge on how to create new jobs for the Kenyan youth. KCB Bank is interested in these young entrepreneurs and has created job opportunities for young people through the 2Jiajiri program. KCB bank has partnered with the makers of Shark Tank, Sony Pictures Television, Quite Bright Films Kenya and Nation Media Group to launch the Kenyan version of Shark Tank. The new series will be known as “Lion’s Den.” This will be a platform to create new jobs for the youth to enable them to achieve economic sustainability.

Just like Shark Tank, the idea is to have successful entrepreneurs who will invest in the young people. There will be five panelists who will be multi-millionaires and will evaluate the contestants for the possibility of funding.

Angela Mwirigi, the KCB director of Marketing and Communication stated that this was an effort towards the youth agenda in Kenya. The realization that the Kenyan youth has so many great ideas but need a boost is a great one.

This new series will help entrepreneurs kick start with their businesses. The panelists will also give advice to the contestants. The show will be hosted by the Nation broadcasting division; this will be a unique reality show. The series has been launched in over twenty countries globally. If you are interested in business and growing as an entrepreneur then this is the show for you. It will be an interesting and engaging reality show.

According to the Global Entrepreneurship Institute and Development 2015 report, Kenya will need to create over 3.9 million new jobs for young people by 2020. The fact is Kenya has many young people under the age of 25 and the country needs to enhance job security for the youth.

The Lion’s Den is part of the KCB group programme known as 2jiajiri. The programme is expected to benefit at least 500,000 youths over a period of 5 years. This will support small businesses and youth that need a push in the right direction. The program will also enable young entrepreneurs to submit their business ideas for funding in order to boost their productivity.
