Everyone would be happier with a smoother face; even the people you envy because of their smooth faces want smoother faces than they already have. People have tried all manner of cosmetics including toning products including Fair and Lovely which do no good for your face because of the ingredients used. The women at River Road will shamelessly call you out because of your face and ask with a smile plastered across their faces if you would fancy smoothening cream. Most of the cosmetics in the market will show their side effects down in the line when you are 40 but looking 65. To protect your face from these harmful chemicals normally contained in most of these cosmetics, I would advise you to go the natural way. It is cheaper and you will look 30 when you are 40, who wouldn’t want that?

Bananas

Bananas are my favorite fruit but they really double up well as face masks. Bananas moisturize your skin making it look and feeling softer.

Mash up a medium-sized ripe banana into a smooth paste and apply on your face and neck. Let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes. Rinse off with cold water and wipe your face with a clean towel.

Avocado, coconut oil and honey mask

This is one of the masks that really work well with dry skin. The avocado and coconut oil provide replenishing moisture. The honey fights off bacteria, tightens your skin pores and protects your skin from sun damage.

Take one half of an avocado and mash it until it is smooth and creamy. Add 2 tablespoons of honey and ½ teaspoon of coconut oil. Gently mix them until you feel like they are all mixed up together. Apply the mixture to your face but make sure to avoid your eyes. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Papaya

Papaya or as we like to call it pawpaw is full of antioxidants and enzymes that will help in removing the old dry skin cells and leave you glowing and with a healthy complexion.

Blend ½ a ripe papaya. Add ½ teaspoon honey and ¼ teaspoon of lemon or lime juice and mix them together carefully. Spread over your face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes then wash off with warm water.

Apple Cider Vinegar

This is one of those beauty regimens that have been used for centuries with royalty and common people alike. Make sure to get the all-natural kind so as to enjoy all the benefits. It works well to reduce inflammation and prevents breakouts. For people with acne, this is a must have.

Wash your face like you normally do. Then, mix a ¼ cup of cider vinegar with ¼ cup of water. Use this to do a finishing rinse to cleanse and tighten your skin.

Yoghurt Facial Mask

It contains lactic acid that will help in giving you a skin cleanse and tightening your pores. This is a beauty regimen that dates back to ancient India and was used to get rid of pimples and acne.

Mix 1 teaspoon PLAIN yoghurt make sure it is plain and has no additives within it with ¼ slice of orange, some of the orange pulp and 1 teaspoon of Aloe Vera. For this option let it sit for 5 minutes and wash off with warm water

You can also use the yoghurt alone by applying it to your face and waiting for 20 minutes before you rinse it off with warm water.

Eggs

The benefits of egg whites range from tightening and shrinking pores to reduce the amount of sebum released, reducing black head and tightening the skin.

Take the egg white and add a little lemon and honey. Mix it carefully and apply it to your face using your fingers. Wait for 30 minutes and then rinse off.

Honey and self-raising flour

This one was a concoction used by someone very close to me. It helped with his oily skin and acne. He did it once a week and the results were very impressive at the end of the treatment.

Mix one tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of flour and beat to a thick paste, apply and wait for 20 minutes then rinse off with hot water. Before rinsing you will literally have a mask over your face so make sure you get somewhere you can be alone and relax. If you laugh or start talking it will start flaking off.

Most of these facial masks have been very helpful to the people I have seen use them. The only one I have not seen being used up close is the eggs. Everything else I have seen the length of time it takes for the results to appear and how well the skin turns out eventually. It is very shocking to see a person with black-heads and acne has their face noticeably smoothen in a few weeks. They take longer than the cosmetics but they are worth the wait. These regimens have more advantages than the cosmetics we all run to that promise a baby smooth face in 2 weeks. We all know that is a lie and if it really does that then it does too much irreversible harm on your skin.
